WHO: Ellie and Eisen
WHAT: Sharing wine and conversation.
WHEN: March 17, 2019.
WHERE: Guard Tower #6.
RATING: Medium.
STATUS: In progress.
Ellie had seen Eisen at least three times since talking about him with Rae, who'd suggested asking if these little outings and meetings were "dates" -- and that made sense, of course, but Ellie had been happy enough not knowing. She liked Eisen. Eisen seemed to like her. Sometimes they had funny moments that felt sort of like flirting; and there was that tendency they had to hold hands and get close, spontaneously sleepover, share drinks and food and quiet hours watching films. Spending time with Eisen was one of the easier things in Ellie's life; he seemed content with her exactly the way she was, and she never got that feeling with him that she'd sometimes had with other men in her life -- the one that felt like having to run every thought through an unreliable translator before speaking it aloud. Eisen didn't have to think very hard to understand Ellie most of the time; he also didn't seem to mind if she said nothing at all.
Still, waiting for him at the top of the guard tower, Ellie couldn't help but wonder again if Rae had been right. Maybe it'd be nice to know more about "intentions". Maybe that was a good conversation to have. It didn't have to be serious. She'd have to wait and see if this felt like a good time -- that was something Ellie had been learning, lately. Timing. Tact.
She'd brought a bottle with no glasses, her laptop for playing music, a blanket; there was even an interesting book for them to thumb through if they got bored, and a little collection of DVDs. Dog couldn't climb towers; the beast was off with Luke again, so Ellie waited alone, humming absentmindedly to herself where she'd settled on the floor.
