Thats a long debated thing over at LJ, and friends are so ingraned into the code, that I can't just alter that part of the code. Go bitch at LJ support, the more voices the bigger chance that you can get it changed.

there's no chance this will happen over at LJ. The whole point of having a friends feature there is so that you can friend whoever you want. If you have public entries, then whether the other user friend you or not, they will be able to view these entries. And if you have protected/private entries, then ever if these people friend you they won't be able to see them.

Plus there's the option of hiding your friend-of list now as a compromise by LJ.
