Author's Notes: To my recipient: I really hope you like this. It's not exactly what you requested, but I think I've managed to tick most of the boxes. This is much longer than I had intended, and it took a lot longer than I thought it would. Either way, here it is. Thank you to everyone who helped with the story, especially my beta, the people who gave advice and comments on the in-progress text, the people who helped with the Latin translation and the rest of the academic content. I really couldn't have finished this without your help. Thanks also to the moderators, for giving me the time to get this completed and polished. All the remaining errors are my own.

To the reader: Certain phrases or words have footnotes which follow the story. These footnotes are marked with a † symbol. Clicking on that symbol will take you to the footnote. To return to the story text, simply press your back button once.

Okay, I know I commented over on LJ, but I just have to say again that I've read it three times already, and it's over 30k...

I wish I had better squee skills, but just wanted to say that after reading it, I wanted to hug it. And after reading it again, I got more out of it than I did the first time, and by the third time through, I think I read through Neville's birthday party two or three times just that time through.

And I'm off to rec it.

Seriously, thank you so much!!

I never would have guessed it was you! Thank you so, so much!!!

Seriously, you've really outdone yourself here. The fic is really a work of inspiration.

:D! Hooray! There was so much fun in channel where you're going, "Oh, you should read this!" and I was, hee, that's my story! I wrote that! I'm glad you didn't guess, though! Zephre helped me translate most of the Latin recipe, Dizilla, Lore and Hime were my first-stop readers! I think the only person you don't know is my beta, Dani! ([info]hermionemalfoy on lj!). Lots of fun, though!

Pretty awesome. Great Neville/Draco, the potion research is a great 'getting them together' method, neat Gilderoy subplot, and Harry sticking up for Neville to Draco was great.

and how fun is bread making and sausage rolls!? :D

Mmm, sausage rolls! I couldn't resist phallic bakery being inserted somewhere into the story! Thank you very much!

As I mentioned, this is not my typical sort of pairing. Also as mentioned, I totally believed in your ability to make me enjoy it.

I'm glad my belief was not ill-placed.

This was very engaging. I love fics that take their time and establish a progression in the relationship, especially for characters who had so little canonical connection as these two. You made it work. You made me want it. You made me grit my teeth in frustration at the end because of the uncertainty (and yet love you all the more for that devilishly ambiguous ending).

Pretty much what I'm trying to say is: Well done. That was beautiful.

I am so so sorry that it has taken me so long to reply to this! Thank you so much for not only reading, but also commenting. I am really glad that you enjoyed it! I enjoyed writing it so much, and it still stands as (in my opinion) the best story that I've ever written. And the ending!

To be honest, I don't really have any idea of what happens to them after this point. I don't think I'll ever re-visit the concept or world, though. :( Sorry!

Don't apologize for the ending's ambiguity. Like I said, it's part of what I loved! Life itself is so very rarely cut-and-dry, and is always filled with uncertainty. So, it's fitting that the ending be so open and unsure. Perhaps they could make it work. Perhaps not. But, at least they have a foundation, should they choose to build anything.

Seriously, though, this really is one of the most fascinating fics I've read in a good long while. Now you need to write some equally captivating Snupin. *hint hint, nudge nudge* ;)
