Summary: Luna insists on holding a seance during the Halloween feast.




They all sat in a circle around the cauldron. Harry wasn’t really sure why they were missing the Halloween feast for this, but Luna was insistent they come.

Fred and George started to chant, and Harry would have felt out of place, he was still thrown off by a lot of seemingly normal wizarding customs, except Ron also looked like he had no idea what was going on. Luna too started to chant, baffling the boys even further.

Before either boy could protest or demand further explanation, the cauldron began to smoke, spilling all over the floor and the boys’ legs, filling the room with the smell of charcoal. Fred and George looked surprised by this development, which Harry thought was quite the twist on the norm.

“Luna, what exactly was that spell?”

“What do you mean what’s that spell?” Ron demanded. The twins shrugged.

“Luna was excited-” said Fred.

“And we thought it would make a great lark,” finished George.

“Oh it’s just an ancient All Hallows cleansing ritual. The smoke protects you for the year to come.” Luna shrugged her hair off her shoulder and brushed soot out of her skirt before waving goodbye to the baffled boys.
