Title: To Scare or Not to Scare Pairing: Minerva McGonagall/Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank Rating: G Disclaimer: HP is not mine. Summary: Peeves will not outdo Minerva.
By the time she finishes feeding the Thestrals, Wilhelmina is freezing. Even her sturdy boots and thick cloak aren’t enough to protect against the unseasonably early winter.
Guiding the creatures into the enclosure Hagrid’s arranged for Halloween, she pats the foals goodbye, then deftly keeps the matriarch of the herd from escaping when she closes the gate.
Minerva is waiting for her in their quarters. A fire roars in the fireplace, and warm soup beckons on the table, but Wilhelmina detours to wash her hands first. “Thestrals are ready. You sure they’re a good idea?” she asks gruffly.
“I will not be outdone by Peeves,” Minerva grouses. Wilhelmina can’t blame her there—ever since the battle, all the professors have liked Peeves more than they used to, but that’s not saying much. He’s still a bloody bastard, and if Wilhelmina has anything to do with it, Minerva’s scares will outdo any of his nasty pranks.
Fortunately, she has a lot to do with it.
Draping her arms over Minerva’s shoulders, Wilhelmina presses her cold nose to Minerva’s neck. Minerva tries to swat her away, but she stubbornly clings, soaking up her partner’s warmth. “You won’t be,” she promises. “Peeves has nothing on me.”
