Summary: Pansy has a habit of signing up for things and then just disappearing. But Hermione has a plan. . .
Notes: Happy Halloween, everyone!
"What's wrong, Neville?" Hermione sounded concerned.
"Nothing, really," Neville replied, sighing. "It's just--Professor Sprout needs me to gather graveyard grass on Halloween, and Pansy signed up to help."
"Is that bad?"
"Well, she signed up last year, too, but didn't come. She just left me hanging."
"Oh, I'm sure she won't do that again! Sign up twice and then disappear both times? Not even Parkinson would do that. It's rude."
Neville was not convinced. Pansy was unreliable.
"Why not ask someone else?" Hermione suggested.
"Pansy needs the extra credit."
Hermione tapped her nose and looked mysterious. "Leave it to me."
On Halloween night, Neville was pleased when Pansy actually joined him in the greenhouse.
"Ready?" she asked, taking his arm with a smile.
"Er, ready," he said, surprised. She smelled nice.
Pansy said nothing more. But when they reached the shadows of the graveyard, to Neville's shock, she kissed him.
Then she whispered, "Finite Incantatem!"
Neville stared as Pansy's image shimmered, and she turned into Hannah Abbott.
His secret crush.
Hannah grinned. "It was Hermione's idea--temporary transfiguration. Pansy gets extra credit, and I get you. Happy Halloween, Neville."
Neville gathered his courage and kissed Hannah back.
"Happy Halloween."
