Ah, fabulous! One of the things I love about Beholder is that it produces stories like this one, that make me reconsider characters I think I already know. I'd never thought about it this way before, but this exchanges really captures these two:

Severus couldn't stop the tiny smile that tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Are you always so blindly optimistic?"

"Are you always so willfully pessimistic?"

"Yes. It results in fewer disappointments in life."
