The gifts the house had given her hadn't done anything but reawaken her repressed feelings for Don. While Marvel knew them as married, Lily herself had come from a place where Don had been gone. She was from the weeks in between -- after he'd been sent back, and before he'd returned. Now, all she really wanted was for him to come back again. Even if he didn't actually remember her, she was sure they could respark whatever they'd had the first time. It wasn't like they were suddenly different people -- though she guessed with the way people had apparently been occasionally out of character on the train ... maybe they were different people. Maybe if a Don showed up here, he'd have no interest in a younger redhead. While she found it hard to believe, she guessed stranger things could happen. Still, she'd set up the picture on her nightstand by her bed, and she'd taken to wearing the wedding ring. It fit well enough, and it was pretty. Maybe if anyone ever asked, she'd say she was married. Granted, that didn't exactly fit with her propositioning Marvel, but ... since she wasn't actually married (or even currently dating) she reasoned it was fine. She wasn't particularly fussed that he'd declined; she wasn't sure she'd expected anything else. It had mostly been a diversion to keep herself from propositioning someone else. Someone who might have said yes. After dinner, Lily made her way to the common area. It seemed deserted, and so she flopped down onto a couch and started to browse through the TV channels to find something to further distract her wandering mind. |
