Parties generally weren't Charles' thing, especially once he'd fully immersed himself into his profession. Sure, there were weddings and bake sales and other ceremonies or get-togethers that he hosted at his chapel; that wasn't quite the same as a cruise liner dance party. But, while his client may have been a member of the Beneath the Veil cast, the preacher himself did not indulge in television and had thus declined an invitation to the premier of the new season. He did so in kindness, to be honest - it would have been cruel to watch without any knowledge of the story and need to ask many questions of his host in order to understand fully.
So, instead, he'd promised to wait up until after the premier had concluded and departed to his cabin to change. His robes were a comfort to his flock (and to him), but they would be out of place in the lounge. So instead, he dressed in a simple white button-up shirt and snug-fitting blue jeans before heading out to mingle with the rest of the guests. On the way to the lounge, he pulled his long hair from the haphazard bun and let it catch the wind for a moment, the dark locks twisting behind him just as entered the flickering lights of the dance hall.
The music was loud enough to send shivers through his muscles, but not so loud that he couldn't vaguely hear voices nearby - not too loud to talk, then, if he'd had someone with him. Scanning around, the preacher moved out of the way quickly and headed for the bar. Though he very rarely drank alcohol, the heat of the room would require some form of refreshment. As such, he caught the attention of one of the waitstaff and asked for a glass of sweet iced tea and a bottle of water. Paying for it in cash (some of the little bit he'd brought for himself), Charles settled into a table out of the way and watched the floor.
There were a good number of people here, even though the party had only just started a short time ago. People danced and swayed to the music, others laughed and conversed with drinks in their hands. It looked like the party would be something interesting to watch, at the very least. Who knows? Maybe he'd even get a good conversation out of a curious or especially forward guest.
