Kessie was about to protest the idea of "wreaking havoc" in a house that wasn't theirs; it seemed rather rude to go around doing such a thing, really, and that wasn't what the party was all about. She didn't get the chance, though.
The lights flickered, then shut off, and the music that had been thumping from the living room cut out as well. Everything was at once eerily silent; some people had light elements in their costumes, but those emitted only a faint glow, or none at all. It was as though the darkness was darker than normal, but that simply wasn't possible, was it?
People began to whisper amongst themselves, irritated or angry or scared. What the hell was going on? Why hadn't the lights come back on?
"Don't panic, everyone!" That was Stacy, the girl who was throwing the party. "I'll just go flip the breaker! We probably overloaded it--"
"What was that?!?" Another voice cried out in the darkness, a scream of terror; there was a sound of something heavy being dragged across the floor, and another of scratches that sounded like they were coming from inside the walls.
"Stacy, if this is a prank, this isn't funny!"
Kesiah closed her eyes; she couldn't see as it was, so what did it matter if her eyes were closed? There were a lot of noises. Footsteps upstairs and down. People panicking.
Opening her eyes again, she glanced at the girls in her group. "...I think we should try to leave."
