What: Theo has an idea that might get them in trouble, Savannah is bored

Savannah was bored. Even training with the DMLE wasn't enough to keep her entertained since she still had to pretend that she had another job, one that included lots of writing. She couldn't give up. They had gotten an answer that had helped with the antidote. You never knew when you'd get an answer that would help them get their foot in the door.

Still writing became boring and she decided to take a walk. With everyone working on the vault and the castle magic, it was hard to have discussions. She felt weird going into a room and disturbing them for no reason, but she lingered in the corridor and her patience was rewarded when Theo came out of their research room.

"Fancy meeting you here," she said with a grin. "How's it going? Getting ready for the weekend?"

It was funny how quickly you could become bored after something unexpected happens. Once the upheaval wears away and the dust settles and you go back to everything the way it was, things just feel too quiet. At least that was how it felt to him, he thought. Maybe others felt anxious, and nervous. Then again, he supposed he did have things on his mind to do and when to do them was key. He didn't like plans to sit for too long, they had a way of losing momentum and right now really was the right time. Nobody was paying attention.

It was time for his break and he left the research room intending to go for his usual smoke and walk, when he saw Savannah and couldn't help but grin. Things had a fun way of working out sometimes.

"Funny thing, I was just thinking about you," he said as he walked over to stand beside her. "Not about Quidditch though. And I think the weekend will plan itself, but you should come with me, have a walk and a chat. It is a bit boring here."

"Were you now? Normally, I'd feel flattered, but with you, I'm pretty sure that it has less to do with me and more to do with whatever you have in mind," she answered, laughing. "You are terrible for my ego."

She hooked her arm with his and started to walk away from the offices. The good thing about Hogwarts was that the stones worked as great soundproofing. Of course, you still had to worry about portraits, ghosts and house-elves. "It's really impossible to have a private conversation unless you go outside," she said, voicing her thoughts.

"So glad that you think it's inconsequential. Apparently everyone feels the same, but I don't like half-arsing Quidditch. It was my life and it's important to me. If you want some kind of tournament, it should be better planned than this crap. I'm really not impressed and I'm seriously thinking about not playing," she said. "It has nothing to do with who gets the credit for planning this new league. It's about doing it right."

He laughed a little taking her arm and walking away from the offices. "Oh it does have to do with that yes," he said with a grin. "I'm sure your ego will be fine. From what I can tell, I'm not exactly your type," he teased.

He nodded as they walked. Everything in the castle so far as he was concerned was likely to interrupt or listen any private conversation that anyone might have. "I do go outside always on my break so that is easy enough and not at all out of the ordinary," he explained, as they headed down the hallway, intending to head outside.

"I don't think it's inconsequential. My weekend is just full. Things to do and people I want to see, and depending on this conversation, more to work on. So Quidditch is just a part, not the whole. Not this weekend anyway," he said with a smile. "You could work with him on this, until he gets the idea. I think he might need the help. You know, it would make sure it's not arsed up, and runs a bit smoother. It would be more of a transition."

"It always has to do with something with you," she said, smiling. It might hurt if she hadn't realized that it was just who Theo was. However the last comment mader her curious. She raised her eyebrows as she eyed him. "Why do you think that?"

She did love going outside, but usually she'd use her broom. " You know that by the time we get down seven floors and outside, it's time to come back, right?" she teased, but didn't stop walking.

"Right, for you it's one of many things. For me, it's the main thing. Everything else is secondary to Quidditch, and I don't appreciate how people are always treating it like it's not important," she admitted. "It's also the problem with James' plan. It's one thing to tell people that they will play in one game, but it's another to assume that people will want to make that commitment without asking, because it's not just the game. He's talking about early morning and/or evening training. It's a lot for someone who doesn't care; even I can see that."

"I am just a tad bit self serving, I'm sorry," he said with a small knowing smile. He didn't mean to be, he thought. It just sort of always worked out that way. Glancing over he caught the questioning look, which to him was a little puzzling. "Based on a simple comparison, if your type is Jamie Potter, I most certainly don't fall into that category. Whatever it would be. But I know I'm not it. I feel that is somewhat logical."

He didn't mind how much time it took, nobody would likely mind or notice. Besides that he always stayed late. It all sort of balanced out. "I'm in no rush. Besides, I'm interested to hear how your letter writing is going? Nothing yet?" He asked, assuming not.

"So I'd have to go to practice and all that?" He said making a small face. "That might be dreadful," he said with a small laugh. "Without some sort of routine or regularity nobody will care. People love distractions, if they have something to play, to look forward to, to get them out of their heads, they will be inclined to it. I do like Quidditch, I just prefer to watch than play. But I understand how you feel. I don't like the things I do to be done in half measures."

"People often are," she said with a shrug, before huffing. "I doubt that you know what type of person Jamie is. He's very good at not showing it. I'd say on the wurface you are very different, but not as much once you get down to it. Besides, my type is a man who I can talk to, something I do with both you and Jamie. My type is-" She shrugged again. "I've never been about looks or anything of the sort. Then again, if Jamie were my type, we'd be married. We aren't."

She groaned. "How can this be so boring? I'm so glad we got that answer, but I have a feeling that the intellectual types are more willing to risk contacting us than the politicians. I hear mysteries really attract the book types," she teased.

Savannah nodded. "Terrible, isn't it? BUt exactly, you need all of that, but at the same time, people who don't really care won't put the effort. Also the teams are a mess. You can't really play with one beater. It'd be better to work with two beaters and two chasers than one and three. Who's the beater supposed to toss the budger to if there's no one else to get it and send it back?"

"That's true, I suppose I just don't bother to hide it much," he said with a nod. "I guess I will have to take your word for it. You do know us both and I have only my observations, and I have a few. Although I like to think I have a knack for figuring out what motivates people," he said with a grin. "Sometimes I'm surprised. I'm a little surprised now," he admitted. "So was that a thing?" He asked curiously. "We're you almost married, really?"

"Maybe it is time to think outside the box," he suggested. "Which is what I want to talk about, and yes the mysteries to draw the bookish sort," he said with a chuckle. "There are other avenues to consider as well. Maybe something a little less conventional." He offered.

Going to practice would take practice, he thought. Getting up early to play at something he was only filling in for out of necessity didn't sound like a good time to him at all. "I will be a terrible beater, I'm sure of it," he said with a laugh. "You could give him the run down of how to make it work, although I do agree. Signing up knowing expectations would also be helpful. I don't see it improving unless you help him. I suppose you could run it together. Unless that doesn't appeal either."

"Which is even more surprising for a Slytherin. I thought you were all about being cunning and sly. You're pretty direct about it. It's probably why I don't mind." She hated the pretenses more than the actual wanting something. "There are your observations and the assumptions that arise from the name 'Potter', but Jamie isn't his father." She laughed. "I don't think you're doing a good job at figuring me out. Possibly because I'm too simple for you, there aren't any secrets with me, and you look for things that are hidden." She shook her head. "In the end, he wasn't my type, because I thought we were serious, that we'd get married, and it turns out that he had his walls up and had no intention of letting me see him. I can't be with someone like that. Don't get me wrong, part of me will always care for him, but- I don't think we could work out. Here, it would be like settling because we're alone and this is familiar and I don't want that."

She wasn't a book person. She would never have the highest grades or get points for her brilliant school work, but she wasn't stupid. "Right, and maybe we can think outside of the box while being outside." And he could finally share what he'd meant to.

"I think you'd be decent, but you would never make the commitment. I think a better way to run this is to do maybe a game a month and use the weekends to train, just for a few hours. It might not be the kind of training I want, but it would make people enjoy it more and that would mean that they would play longer." She snorted. "I really don't care if he gets the credit or not. I've never been about that, but he's intent on running it. These Marauders are a bit conceited, aren't they? No wonder most of the Order died. They are awful at planning, and I can't believe I just said that. That's mean, isn't it? But accurate."

"I've always been better at hiding in plain sight. You know, if everyone is watching what your right hand is doing, nobody is paying attention to the left. But I'm not here to trick you, just to make an offer," he explained feeling a little pleased. He thought it a little funny that she thought his assumptions were based on Jamie being like his father. "I know he isn't, but he does play the role of dutiful son quite well," he commented with a small smile. "Just one of my many observations, not an assumption." It was always comical in a way, how easily people found speaking to him. It didn't take people much to reveal a lot about their lives and pasts. He in turn gave very little of himself. He listened to her speak and was quietly thoughtful, letting her words turn a few times in his mind before he spoke. "I don't think it is a matter of you being too simple for me, I do think you are a fixer. Would you say that's fair, that your a fixer?"

Reaching the bottom of the stairs he nodded, pulling away to step ahead to hold open the door for Savannah to pass through, before heading outside himself.

"That's true, I don't know if I would commit to all that, it is a lot," he said as he lit a smoke and exhaled slowly. "I'd much rather watch than play but I don't mind filling in until a better option comes along," he offered. "I say give that option to him and see how it all pans out," he suggested. "As for the The Order, they were losing the first war, it wasn't until the end of it, and most of them had died, or been sacrificed that the tide changed. Conceited in some ways, I think more so idealistic and naïve more so."

Still walking he put a bit of distance between themselves and the castle before speaking. "So, Duchess. How would you feel about writing a letter to the Scarlett Letter?" He said tossing the idea her way. "You know she will answer. It will cause a little bit of upheaval, more so my problem than yours. I do think it will be worth it. I know it will yield results."

"I think you're underestimating the amount of people watching. They are bound to look at different things, which makes it likely that they will see both sides," she said. "And why do I feel like we always end up having these philosophical discussions? Not that I mind, but no one else brings up these things with me." She shrugged. "Jamie does what he needs to do, but they are family. I'm very different from my father, but I still love him and I'd do anything for him." She nodded. "I'm definitely a fixer, but I don't think that people can be boiled down to a few adjectives. The adjectives are what people see. Everything else is what people need to see with their hearts and so many miss that."

Savannah stepped outside with a smile. "I spend so much time in the locker room that sometimes I forget gender differences. No man on the team holds the door open for me. It's more whoever gets there first goes first," she said, laughing, lightly.

She shrugged. "I don't think this is going to work how he thinks it's going to work, but we'll see. I'm not actually hoping that he fails, but yeah, I think people need to actively choose to play." She thought about what he said. "I get that, but I still think that there wasn't much planning in that sacrifice. A lot more people would have survived if they had better plans that don't boil down to 'let's go there and see what happens'."

The request was intriguing. "I'm sure she will, but what do we get? What do we want to tell her? And I think we can do it without anyone getting in trouble if there's a reason to do it. What were you thinking of saying and what are we trying to achieve?"

"I doubt that. People see what they want to see always, through the lens they view the world through. I've a gift for grift, believe me. I know." He said with a smile. "These discussions happen because you try to relate, and so I feel compelled to speak more. If you didn't I wouldn't bother. It just happens that way, which is something I enjoy about you," he said with a shrug. "I can't relate to that at all, wanting to please family. Those I hold close, sure. But I've never been inclined towards family concerns. I will say this though, if we are similar as you say. And his walls are in any way like my own, I can offer this perspective. Not all broken things want to be mended. Some do so in their own way in time. Some don't. Fixers however, they do tend to make those like myself run. Not that your just an adjective. Or that anyone is, but strong traits are strong traits."

He didn't see gender differences in his actions, but he did see good manners. He simply smiled and nodded. Turning his attention to the topic of Quidditch again, and the war. "All we can do is wait and see who plays, who shows up. Who is truly interested. I will be there," he said simply. He wasn't sure of a tactful way to say what he was thinking, so he instead he opted for bluntness. "They were not meant to survive. If they had, things would have unfolded differently. What is meant to be was. Harsh truth but a truth nonetheless."

He grinned feeling pleased, exhaling and tipping off the ash from the tip of his smoke. "Acknowledgement. Public support. Not being able to be ignored. That can be parlayed into things we need. Support, resources. It's hard for a country to ignore a handful of refugees if their people are up in arms about it. Scorpius has more ideas and you should confer with him before you do so. If you do. It will have to be done privately, you understand. As for trouble," he said with a smile. "I'm not worried at all about that. Whatever needs doing to keep things on track, I can handle. I don't mind being a diversion. At least until we get results. The only thing is how much will Scarlet want in turn."

"I agree with that part, but people here see the world differently so each person sees a different thing. You think you are so smooth, but there are too many different people. I don't think you are as invisible as you think. Unless you are talking about Mr. Potter, who definitely only sees what he wants," she said, laughing. "I like to know people and that means talking about what they like and dislike. You just happen to like more theoretical discussions. I seldom find people I can't get along with, though." Sirius had been one of those people and she still couldn't figure that one out. "I'm close to my family. Jamie is close to his family. Maybe that's the difference." She nodded. "I'm well aware that some things can't be fixed. Maybe they shouldn't."

Savannah snorted. "Everyone will show up the first day and then they realize what's involved and they will get annoyed." She frowned as she thought. "But that's because they approached it like Gryffindors and I don't often use houses to make a point. It's like they were willing lambs going to the slaughter instead of planning how to fight and stay alive when possible. Again, bad planning. I bet that Jamie wouldn't face life that way. He's a lot more thoughtful than that."

She chuckled at his reaction, but she wasn't fully convinced. "It takes a certain type of reporting to get support. Just random gossip won't help. Take this latest example, even the possibility of death didn't convince people. In fact, I think many were hoping that we were all going to die. I get the feeling that it goes beyond the politicians. We need to find the right angle." She waved a hand. "I can already think of a few ways that wouldn't lead back to any of us, and she wants attention. This will give her attention. Now people, I get, so that's the easy part. I'm just not sure what we want to give her and I'm not sure that Scorpius' ideas would translate in help to us. Getting new clothes and makeup isn't really helpful."

"Through a different lens," he repeated. He doubted very much that people knew him as well as they wanted to think they did. They certainly had enough to make assumptions, and knowing how little actual facts he allowed people to know about himself, he knew at the least he was more right than wrong. 'Oh no. I'm not talking about him at all," he said with a small chuckle. "I rarely ever do." He said with only a smile. "I'd say it is one difference. One of many. And yes. Not all things should be fixed."

How to plan for Quidditch, or how to run a game or collect players was not his field of expertise. He did think that however Savannah felt about it, people were likely to show up. "You think they didn't plan how to fight or how to survive?" He questioned, interested in her answer. "I think they did, they just chose wrong. But that's heroics, isn't it? That's the role of the hero, to rush in and save the day. At any cost. Very Gryffindor, for sure. More so, very gullible." He said simply. "As for Jamie, he might and might not. Who knows?"

"Of course they want us dead, or many do. We are a lot of trouble, aren't we?" He said in agreement. "I always thought so. For a variety of reasons. So if you a good angle or path to take, what is it?" He questioned. "Give her whatever she wants, all you really need to do is ask. And the rest, well. We can deal with the rest if and when results come in."

"Oh sure. Different people see different things, that's my entire point. You are fine as long as they don't talk go each other." In the end, she felt that it was all about communication, but people were known for not talking to each other. "What are the other differences you see? BUt yes, I don't think Jamie and I can ever be a thing again. We've gotten to the point that it feels too familiar almost like family, but who knows? I'm not one to predict the future."

Savannah snorted. "I think they couldn't plan they way out of a glass, but also I don't think they planned. 'Go in and fight' isn't a plan no matter what they think. Granted, I know things through history, but they had fourteen years to figure out how to destroy a wizard that had been temporarily vanquished. I don't believe for a second that waiting for a kid to go to school was a plan. Look, I get that they are the heroes, but battles aren't different from games, wars from championships. You plan the game, but you also plan the season. You plan, plan and then plan some more until every detail is taken care of. These people? Again, they couldn't plan to save their lives and that's what happened. They died."

She nodded. "Unfortunately we are, but when it's just the politicians, then you can count for people's support. If we don't handle Scarlet Idiot correctly, she'll make people hate us even more and it'll backfire. We know what she wants, which is more followers, so for her, any exclusive does the trick. We need to think carefully about what we want her to print. I might need some time to think about it."

He could only smile. It was sound reasoning but not a very real concern for him. Not at present at any rate. "You mean besides the very obvious ones?" He said with a small laugh. "When I said he played the dutiful son well, I did mean that. In fact I've never seen any hint of self interest first. And I do have some insight, I did have Roxanne's memories, even if a lot of that retention has faded away," he said with a small shrug. "I do wonder if he knows who is beyond that," he mused. "In any case, I don't have that problem. I often put my self interests first. There are few exceptions to that. But there are some." He finished, only smiling at what sounded to him at least, like someone waiting.

"Funny things do happen when prophecy comes into play. The only one who can really tell you what the plan was, they are far too young to know," he said with a small laugh. "I'd like to know myself to be honest, but I doubt I ever will. I do think they planned though, best they could. With what little they had to work with. I feel disinclined to sell them too short."

"I want to know who she is," he said, "I'm very curious. I agree with you. She has to be handled in the right way, which is why you came to mind. I feel this is something best suited to your skills. As for time, take what you need but don't be too long. I hate losing momentum."

"I meant what differences you see on the reason why we put so much emphasis on family and you don't. I'm not Jamie after all. But I think their name shaped who they are. All of them. Potters and Weasleys. It's hard not to. I guess I could have gone the same route, but Mum didn't want me to use Dad's last name, either the real one or the stage name. I'm glad she did, because I could become famous for what I can do. Jamie never had that chance." She looked at him, head tilted. "Aren't you lonely? You talk to people, but are you close to anyone?"

She rolled her eyes. "People get so stuck on what they think the prophecies say and stop being rational. Look at what happened to us." Savannah snorted. "Some of those people died that young, so I doubt they have any insight. Strange that you're the one giving them the benefit of the doubt," she added with a smile.

"I couldn't care less, but neither of our position is really a surprise, is it?" He was way too curious and she wasn't." She laughed. "Sure, put me on the spot like that. ANyway, just give me a few days, okay?"

'On family?" He questioned. That all seemed sort of obvious and he couldn't imagine why it would even need asking. "Well, you don't tend to place emphasis on things you never had. Or I don't at any rate," he said knowing full well what ordeals the Potter and Weasley children would have faced. Still it was a luxury to be sure. Taking the last drag of his smoke he dropped the butt on the ground and crushed it under his heel. "I've spent most of my life alone, lonely isn't really something I feel often. There are people I care about, hence exceptions to the rule. Or are you asking something specific?" He wondered but he didn't know.

"Prophecy is real enough. It becomes real once people believe in it. Especially if those people are connected to it. Once that ball starts rolling, it gains and gains until it has a life all it's own. I do mean one person in particular, that's where the answers would be. But that's not doable. As for credit," he said with a small shrug. "They are some of the most talented witches and wizards in recent history. In some cases they have skills I admire. They did things I could not. I don't see that being very odd on my part."

"Alright," he said holding out his hand. "All that needs doing now is to shake on it. If it can be done, will you do it?"

She shook her head. "No, nothing specific, but you don't interact with many people, at least not in a meaningful way, and i was wondering if that made you feel lonely. I can't imagine not talking to everyone, and not about work or superficial things."

She sighed. "And this is why I don't pay any mind to any of that. I even refuse to follow those stupid superstitious rituals a lot of players believe in. You make your own future." She smiled. "Oh Dumbledore. Yeah, the books talked about how great he was, but Hogwarts sounded like a nightmare under him." She pondered his words and then nodded. "I guess when you put it like that. I still think that talented and capable isn't the same thing. I know plenty of Ravenclaws who were brilliant, but couldn't make a plan to save their lives."

She grinned. "All right, let's go back inside and I'll see what I can come up with.

He was surprised by how taken by by Savannah's comments he was, he simply shrugged and nodded. "I see" he said quietly. Work was something he was passionate about, and not at all trivial to him. Hobbies were things he enjoyed, with those he could share in them with. His life, that was something else, and why he would want to unload years of dreadful things on anyone was baffling to him. The prospect of starting was hard enough to contemplate. It wasn't as if anyone cared. Not really. Even if he did want to talk he didn't have the option, not anymore. Not truly. That's just how it was. That's how people were, in his life at least. Disappointing.

What else there was to say he didn't much hear, save for a small nod here and there, when it seemed required.

He smiled, although it was a little empty. "I'll catch up," he said turning to leave. "I'm not quite ready to head back inside. In a little while." Placing his hands in his pockets he walked on, nowhere really in mind to go. Just a quick walk to clear his mind, and then he'd head back.
