Jamie had been trying to believe as he'd told his dad he would. Trying to believe Regulus would find a cure. Trying to believe Al would be all right. Trying to believe in a positive outcome that would mean he didn't lose his little brother. He supposed he was also trying to accept that he, himself, had no guilt in what had happened, that he hadn't failed in his one duty: protecting both his siblings.

But, honestly, only the research Scorpius had asked of him was keeping Jamie distracted enough that he didn't continue to focus on his fears.

When Regulus had said he'd done it, Jamie could have kissed the younger man...if he wasn't perfectly aware he'd getting hexed for it and, if he survived the hexing, beaten bloody by a werewolf after.

Instead, he'd rushed up to the Hospital Wing to be there for this moment, when Al would wake up and be given the potion that would keep him alive. Jamie helped as Regulus and Marlene needed with administering to those who needed it. But, only up until this moment. If he was sure of nothing else, he knew he needed to be right there by Al's side when the younger Potter brother opened his eyes. Once the cure was administered and the others had moved on, Jamie reached for his brother's hand. "Hey there, Sleeping Beauty. Welcome back to the land of the living. You need anything? Water? Another pillow? Big brother to shut up and stop hovering?"

"Easy." Jamie put a calming hand on his brother's arm. "Lilu's okay. Her hands got burned and there will likely be some scarring. But, she's alive and otherwise unhurt. Dad got her out pretty quickly. Probably saved Scorpius' life, pushing him into the water like she did. And she's been far more worried about you, which I'm sure you'll hear about when you see her."

Honestly, if their sister didn't have her own medical needs, Jamie fully expected she would have been right there with him at Al's bedside. "Right now, though, you need to focus on yourself. How are you feeling? They tell me you'll need to rest and give the potion time to work through all the damage the poison did. But, it should start working pretty fast."
