We have a slight problem. In fact, we're not even sure if there's a problem, but random things have been appearing. We didn't even noticed, but one of the house-elves mentioned to me that they found things that belonged in the past.

This might be just something being stuck in some room and popping up in the kitchen or it might be the magic going really wonky, whether because it's just wonky or because we're poking at it, we don't know.

In conclusion, there's a lot we don't know, but be careful and pay attention.

What sorts of things?

Right now? Some cauldrons that went on fire in 2003, a set of plates that was supposedly throw out in 1976 and some curtains that were destroyed by a spell in 1941.

The house-elves swear that they were all thrown out because they couldn't be fixed. On the other hand, curtains are curtains. Maybe they made mistakes.

Bloody weird.

But okay. We should all be on the lookout for anything that's even more out of the ordinary than usual.

Is anything not weird in this place?

Right, I know how not helpful that is, but if we come up with more, I'll pass it along. This wasn't even the DoM finding out, but a house-elf telling me, so you know, keep talking to them.

Wait, is all this stuff that's appearing still ruined?

No, it's in good condition, which is why I'm not sure if the house-elves are just remembering something else that looks similar or they are really arriving from the past.

Remus/Peter

Have you been able to correlate any of the appearances with specific things your group is working on? Times matching up, etc.? I'm guessing these things aren't coming back in their last state of destruction or there wouldn't be a question of if they're really from the past or not?

(And you can't put conundrums out there like that without my wanting to ask questions and poke into it. You know that, right?)

I wonder if there are any spells for the magical equivalent of carbon dating?

We aren't even sure if there's any correlation. We aren't sure when they appeared since the house-elves aren't sure. None of them appeared in the proximity of where we're working. Honestly, if I hadn't gone to the kitchen for a late night snack, we might not have noticed.

Yeah, I know, but do you know what else you should know? That house-elves don't always bother with details.

Oh, that's a good one. I'll have to look into it. Tomorrow. Now I'm taking a break before I start going crazy.

Singularly unhelpful. I guess it's a good thing you got hungry...and that the house elves have always seemed to like us enough to share a few things.

And, that's true enough. Although, they bother more when they are asked to pay attention. And, again, if they like you.

It sounds like you could use a break.
