You want to make an impression, you do it in person. But, there may be a way to do it without brassing off the Confederation too much.
Meet at sea. If you meet outside territorial waters, the border restrictions shouldn't matter. We're not crossing their borders and the reporter wouldn't be crossing ours. It shouldn't take much to charter a boat for an afternoon. You make your point without breaking sovereign borders, trying to fake a valid passport that will be accepted on both sides with their different requirements.
Oh, that's right. No one thought to brief you lot in the older generations about Brexit, did they? Muggle nonsense my latter years at school where the U.K. broke away from the EU, which means no more free travel between here and there with just a national card.
