Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:character: fenrir greyback, character: parvati patil

RP: Parvati/Fenrir
Who: Parvati/Fenrir
When: Morning April 9
Where: Fenrir's room
What: Parvati goes in search of Firenze's room and finds someone else

Parvati had picked up a random room to sleep but she couldn't say that she was settled yet. She half thought about the Divination tower, but it seemed like taking over someone's room while their body was still warm. She did have one thought: Firenze.

She had sent a message to him only this morning and hoped that after speaking with the others, he'd be allowed to talk to her, but she knew better than to pressure the centaurs. They did things at their speed, which was a lot slower than what witches in general and Gryffindor in particular liked.

Thinking of him, she decided to search for his room. Maybe she could stay there. Classroom 11. It had been one of her favourite classrooms while in school. Going there without hesitation, she tried to open the door and found it locked. She frowned, before knocking. It took a moment before a very good looking man that she recognized as Fenrir Greyback (thanks Harry for the memories). "I'm sorry, I didn't know this room was taken."

Fenrir had been lounging on the grass of his chosen room, trying to sort his head out after one of the weirdest weeks of his life, when the knock at the door came. Not that it had been bad having Savannah in his head. Or had he been in her head? He supposed it didn't matter. He hadn't felt that light and cheerful in years and he felt a weird desire to thank her for that. He also felt the need to apologise to whoever had ended up with his memories because that must have been pretty shit for them.

The knock at the door broke him out of those thoughts though and he wandered over to open the door, expecting that it might be Savannah or perhaps Remus. But instead it was a beautiful, young Indian woman he didn't recognise.

"Uh, hi," he said, shifting slightly. He glanced over his shoulder at the weird little home he'd set up - with the bed, table and various chairs and sofas and cupboards and whatnot scattered among the trees. "Um, yeah, it's... nice. I like being outside and inside, if you know what I mean."

He paused for a moment then managed to dredge up some manners he hadn't used in a long time. "Uh, do you wanna come in?"

"Hi, I'm Parvati," she said, repeating a mantra that was in Harry's head 'He's not who he was'. She was starting to understand why Harry kept telling himself that, even if it usually appeared when Pettigrew was around. Parvati remembered Greyback and what he'd done to Lavender. 'He's not who he was'. Right keep saying that. "And you're Fenrir, right? I had Harry's memories so I sort of remember everyone."

She stepped inside with a thank you. "It is beautiful here. It's Firenze's room. He's a centaur and he used to teach divination. Professor Dumbledore changed the room for him. He was teach, but also live in here," she said, thinking back to that year, but also to all of the years after that, when her friendship with Firenze blossomed.

"You're lucky you got here first or I've had stolen this from you, even though I'm terrible being outdoors," she said, laughing, lightly. "This has the benefit of the outdoors without all the bugs. I like that."

"Uh, yeah. Fenrir. Fenrir Greyback," he said, feeling a little flustered. He'd like to delude himself into thinking he'd once been suave but frankly that was one thing he'd never been. "Well, he is the man in charge so I guess it makes sense he knows who everyone is."

He followed after her as she walked in. "I didn't know that. I mean, I figured there was a reason why there was a forest inside but then, this is Hogwarts and weird shit happens here all the time so..." He shrugged.

He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. "That's kind of why I like it. I mean, I've slept outside enough times to know the best way of just rolling myself up in my coat under a hedgerow but this is much better. I've got real furniture and there's no rain, no bugs, no waking up to find a hedgehog or a mouse has decided to curl up in my trouser leg and definitely no chance of the Old Bill coming along to roust me out."

"It's nice to officially meet you," she said, realizing that it was much easier not to think of him as Greyback with his unsure manners and none of the aggression. "Yes, I guess it is, but it's nice to have my own memories back. He knows too much."

She imagined that not that many people would remember Firenze or Divination class. "You're right, but there was a reason for this room. He's great. I'm hoping that the centaurs will want to talk to us. I sent him a message. He was young twenty years ago when I'm from and centaurs live over two hundred years. I promise not to let him take your room," she said with a wink.

She couldn't imagine what it'd be like to sleep outside in the Scottish weather. They were in April and the temperatures were down to the freezing mark. "I might come over for a sleep-over," she teased. "But who exactly is Old Bill and why is he waking you?" The only Bill she could think of was Bill Weasley, but this Greyback hadn't scarred him yet.

"I, uh, got Savannah's memories," he admitted. "It was nice. I think I might have lucked out there, though I don't envy the person who got my memories." He really did need to apologise for that. Maybe he would a bit later.

He chuckled then looked around. It made sense now. A centaur would have felt a lot more comfortable here than in a normal classroom. "How'd you end up with a centaur as a teacher? They don't usually want much to do with us."

"Uh, yeah, sure," he found himself saying and he wanted to slap himself upside the head. "I mean, if you want. There's plenty of room, even if I have spread out a bit." He looked around at the arrangement of furniture he'd hauled into the room. It looked a bit haphazard but he liked the way he'd arranged everything. He blinked at her comment then grinned. "The police. The Old Bill are the Muggle police. They get a bit narky about people sleeping rough sometimes, especially where the toffs can see them."

"I don't really know Savannah. I had just gotten here when this happened, but she seems very nice. Why did you like her memories?" she asked, a little curious to get some insight.

She walked around the room, before sitting down on under one of the trees, forgetting about the furniture. "Our regular professor was fired. Dumbledore didn't trust many people and was able to convince him to teach. It cause a lot of problems with his people who saw him as a sell out. They don't want to teach wizards their ways since we are such snob. I can't say that I blame them. After the war, we stayed in contact, because I'm a seer. I also see auras." She tried not to with people she knew, but it was impossible.

Parvati chuckled. "I'm teasing you. I'm not in the habit of sleeping in the room of men I don't know, but thank you for being that accommodating." She had no idea how the Muggle police became Old Bill, but London people had some really strange way to talk. "I might have been one of those toffs."

Fenrir paused as he found a way to describe it without betraying anything. "She's... happy. And she sees the world that way." He shrugged. "I don't really know how to describe it any better than that. It was nice to be happy."

He watched her walk around the little forest and when she sat down, he did as well, sprawling out on the grass. "Huh. Sounds interesting. I got chased out of the forest a couple of times by the centaurs when I was here. Not in a mean way." He gave a small laugh. "More like they were exasperated." He cocked his head in a way he knew was slightly canine but couldn't seem to stop himself from doing. "Auras? What's that like?"

He smiled. "You could always use it on the full moon. Even with the Wolfsbane, I won't stay in the castle on that night." He raised an eyebrow and gave her a good look. He was tempted to try using some of those enhanced sense he now knew he possessed but decided not to. "I've been mostly in the Muggle world before I came here."

"It must be nice." Parvati wasn't unhappy per se, but she couldn't imagine viewing the world in such positive light. "I'm not an optimist, not with my visions. You always get the shitty ones. Oh sure, once in a while, you get someone feeling something good, but mostly it's the doom and gloom. It makes it hard to see the world as a happy place. It's why I enjoyed working with Firenze. The centaurs have such a different way to see the future."

Parvati snorted. "You got lucky then. Or maybe it's because you're a werewolf so they don't think of you as a wizards. They don't really like us. Firenze had to fight them to train me." She looked up, thinking about how to best describe it. "You can see lights around things and people. You can see dark magic envelop cities, but you can also see the happiness around a child eating ice cream. You can literally see emotions in colours."

She grinned. "That's a nice offer, I might take you up on it, although I'm sure you need the room in the morning. Even with the Wolfsbane, the transformation can't be pleasant." She tilted her head. "I don't know what that look means, but I'm a Gryffindor. If you want to know something, ask. And I can say that I spent much time in the Muggle world."

"I haven't been an optimist in years," Fenrir said dryly. "So I'm guessing I won't be of much help to you." He leaned back and looked up at the leaves above them. "Mind you, it's better here so I may be less gloom and doom these days."

"Nah, I wasn't a werewolf then," he said with a laugh. "Guess it was just my dumbass teenager vibes that had them chase me out rather than do anything else." He cocked his head at her description. "Huh. I'd say weird but I got a bunch of extra sense stuff with the whole werewolf thing that isn't too different. Not that I knew about that until I talked to Remus. I just thought I was going nuts."

He shook his head with amazement and his subsequent smile was actually genuinely happy. "I couldn't believe that potion. It's amazing. I mean, yeah, you're right, the transformation is still shit but being in control afterwards is... pretty cool. You know I can kind of make myself into a bit furry circle? I am nowhere near that flexible normally." He grinned then shrugged a bit. "Nah, nothing. Not much point these days. We're all pretty much equal here now and it's not like I have to sleep in the hedgerows now. Hell, I even have a job. A good job."

"We can be pessimists together," she said with a smile, before she shrugged. "I saw this happening. Not us coming back, but the death of our civilization. I"m not sure that I'll be less gloom and doom when the next vision hits."

She chuckled, noticing how different he sounded from the Greyback she had met. "They might have taken pity on you then. They don't like wizards, but they aren't mean spirited. They get really violent if they think that you are being malevolent in any way." She shook her head. "they aren't the same thing. You can pick up physical things and from there you can make deductions. You can sense if my heart is speeding, if I'm aroused if I'm scared, if I'm angry. I can look at a person and know if he's good, bad, happy, and naturally those things can change from moment to moment."

She ran her hand up and down her leg, debating if she should say anything. "I met you, your older self. He wasn't a good person, but I think that a lot of it was due to circumstances. I'm glad that you have the Wolfsbane and a job you like, a roof over your head. The darkness that surrounded him doesn't exist in you." She could see the darkness of the curse, same as she did with Remus, but not the darkness of the soul that she'd seen in the werewolf that had attacked her best friend. "I'm also glad that you're getting to understand what being a werewolf means."

"That must have sucked," he said then he cocked his head slightly. "So, you were here? When it all fell apart? Must have been scary. And kind of weird to end up here now."

He nodded slowly. "You have a point. And I'm only just learning that stuff and what it all means too. Before Remus explained it, I thought the way I felt when I was around a lot of people meant I was going nuts." He sighed and lounged on the grass with his hands behind his head. "It must be hard. To see all that. Probably not so bad when it's a nice, happy person but the not so nice people? That can't be fun. And this Firenze must have been stand up bloke... er, centaur. I mean, to stand up to his own people to see you got trained. Says a lot about him."

He went very still as she spoke and then just stared up at the branches above them. "I figured something bad had happened with me just based on some of the wary looks I was getting when people heard my name. I asked Remus if I wanted to know and he said probably not. Or at least not now." He extracted one hand from behind his head and threw his arm over his eyes. "I'd met some werewolves who'd gone... feral, I suppose you'd put it. They scared the shit out of me because I could see some of the way I was feeling in the way they were." He sighed again. "I'm sorry, you know. Don't know what I'm sorry for but I am sorry for it. I don't know what tipped me over the edge or when it happened but I'm glad it's not going to happen here."

"It doesn't really work that way. I saw images: Hogsmeade empty, St. Mungo's being destroyed, Diagon Alley abandoned. I could sense the desolation, but I didn't get an exact picture of what happened. I didn't know how it would happen either, just that it would," she explained before nodding. "But yeah, it sucks."

She paid close attention to what he said and how he said it. In fact, she planned to pay close attention in general, but she couldn't sense the man she knew at all. "It can't have been easy, without the resources that Remus had, that others had after him. Is it getting better? Now that you know why you are sensing so much?"

Parvati sighed. "No, you definitely don't want to know because that person isn't you. Getting to know him is a little like my visions. You get to see something that might happen, but probably wouldn't if you didn't know about the visions." She shook her head. "You don't have to be sorry for something you didn't do. Just- don't isolate yourself okay? Being alone is never good for anyone, and in a new world, with no friends- If you feel lonely, just come and find me, okay? I have my sister here, but I'm missing my best friend. Totally have room for a friend. I don't know about best friend, you'll have to learn about fashion," she joked with a big smile on her face.

Fenrir considered that then shuddered. "I think that would be worse actually. Seeing all that but not knowing why or how it happens. Huh, I wonder what I would have done if a seer had told me about being bitten, even if it was vague." He snorted rather self-deprecatingly. "Actually, I probably would have been dumb enough to ignore it. I certainly ignored the people who tried to warn me. Not their fault. They didn't know enough English and I didn't know enough German."

"Yeah, it was... bad. Still bad when I came here." He grimaced. "I'm kind of jealous of Remus, having parents that understood and protected him. But he's been great with everything he's been teaching me. And yeah, it's a whole lot better now that I know why these things are happening. I don't get as irritated or angry or want to claw my way out of my own skin."

Fenrir let his hand drop from his face, though he looked more thoughtful than anything else. Parvati was the second person to tell him that and he wasn't sure how that made him feel. Whatever he did, it must be bad. And that scared him, that he could end up that way. Maybe he really didn't want to know.

"I won't," he said with a small smile. "I got into the habit of doing it but I'm trying not to here. And thanks, I... I will." He then laughed. "Uh, yeah, fashion and me have never really been a thing. Even before I got bit, I pretty much lived in Muggle clothes." He sighed. "You know, I had a really cool leather jacket that I lost somewhere in Devon on a bad night. It was the most stylish thing I've ever owned."

"I never know the how or why," she said with a sigh. "I wish visions came with instructions, but instead, I only get snapshots of what will happen." Parvati shrugged. "Nothing, you would have done nothing, because you never know what will lead you to being bitten. Oh at first you would have been careful maybe never leaving the house and then slowly you start going out until it happens. You shouldn't blame yourself. It's human nature."

Parvati tilted her head, staring at him. "Did your parents not try to protect you?" She shook her head. "I'm sorry, you don't have to answer that. I forget how different things were before. Even when I was in school and parents found out that Remus was teaching, there was an uproar, but even though he left, there was an entire school that had learned to love him. It changes things when you get to know a person."

She laughed. "So, we're not spending the evening reading magazines and discussing the latest trends? I'm shocked and extremely disappointed." She smiled at him wickedly. "Oh darling, now that's a challenge if I ever saw one. Give me some time to figure out fashion here and I will have you dressed better than models."

"I suppose that makes sense," Fenrir said. "The future isn't always set in stone and things like that." He sighed. "Yeah, I know. I just wish things had been different."

He smiled wryly. "It's okay. No, they didn't. I came back home and told them what had happened and they kicked me out. They're refused to speak to me ever since. That's what I was doing before I came here. I'd gone to try and speak to them again and was walking away when boom, here I was." He shrugged. "I don't know why, other than that's just the way the wizarding world encourages people to think about werewolves."

"I don't think I've ever read a fashion magazine," he said with a grin. "Except maybe when I was trying to avoid someone, though I'm not sure if it counts as reading if I'm holding it upside down and not even looking at it." He laughed. "I don't think I've ever dressed like that. Never really thought it was worth trying."

"Exactly, so it's a fine line between telling people so they can avoid it and not telling them, because if you do, you set in motion the very thing you're trying to avoid. I feel that sometime Fate gives us visions so we tell people to make them happen." It was why she wanted to know what had happened and if her vision was connected in any way. "Fenrir, we've been brought back after the end of our world. Pretty sure we all feel like that."

She scrunched her nose. "Parents should love unconditionally. I don't understand the ones who don't. My parents might nag and always pushed us to do our best but we know they love us. I'm not telling you to show off, but to show that it's not your fault, but theirs." She knew what he meant. "The curse scares people. Something that couldn't be controlled. It got better with the Wolfsbane."

She matched the grin. "You don't know what you're missing. I'll just have to show you, before getting you all dressed up. Anyway... I probably should be going." She got up going toward the door. "Just know that from now on, you're stuck with a new friend and if you need anything, just let me know."
