"I would apologize for that, but we do have lovely eyes," she replied with a cheeky smile. "Well then, I suppose I don't have to say anything more about all that. I've always felt a little badly for the families that put so much pressure on meeting some crazy ideal."
She blinked. "Are you having a go at me, darling? Playing some prank like your father and Sirius used to? I mean, if all that's true, then you could be in contact with people from anywhere. That's madness!" She didn't want to imagine what Sirius with a phone like that would have been like.
She sucked in a deep breath. "When you put it like that, it does make sense that people would think the worst. Poor Sirius, though..." She tried to smile through her tears. "I can't help it, hearing about what you went through and knowing that your father and I didn't protect you as well as we thought is just upsetting. It's good that Peter saved you, that's a point in his favor, however I wish he wouldn't have had to in the first place." She reached up with a shaky hand to wipe the rest of her tears away. "There was a little bad blood between Severus and I, and I'll admit my choosing to be with your father didn't help things. I suppose, if I'm given the chance, I should try talking to him."
