"I think I've got a new mission. I'll bake some cupcakes in different flavors, and we can use them to figure out what you like best." She preferred classic chocolate, but wouldn't want to impose her tastes on him. "I usually go for chocolate cake, although I've entertained the idea of a big chocolate chip cookie, or a cheesecake."
She was happy with her life, minus the not seeing her son grow up. "You didn't make me feel badly. I just wish I could go back and change your childhood. I know I can't, but I can at least do my utmost to give you a better current time."
She pressed a kiss to his forehead. "Why would it change us, darling? With everything you've been through, I'm sure connecting with others hasn't been easy." She would talk to his children, and hopefully start laying down some groundwork to help their relationship with their father. "I can't wait to meet them. I'm looking forward to embracing my status as grandmother."
