"Sounds like we have some time to make up for, then." Once they got everything else sorted Lily wouldn't mind cuddling up to James for a little while. If it wasn't for the Potter family lunch coming up, she would suggest they go do that now.
She wasn't so lost as to miss just how awkward James was reacting to certain things she said. Fidgeting, playing with his hair, trying to act like everything was fine... she would get to the bottom of what was bothering James. "Darling," she started, keeping her tone light. "There was a dog bed in the delivery room when I was giving birth to Harry. Or... we could just find somewhere big enough for all of us to live."
It wasn't as though she had a problem with how close James and Sirius were. They were such a package deal that Lily was almost surprised James didn't somehow sneak Sirius on their honeymoon with them. Lily would have to talk to Sirius, and perhaps lay down some ground rules.
"Harry's all grown up?" Lily felt her heart throb hard in her chest, the concern she felt at hearing James say their Harry was here and an adult mingling with pride at how James spoke of him. "Of course he's brilliant, love, did you expect anything less from us? I can't wait to hear all about his life from him."
Glancing down at the space between them for a moment, Lily nodded.
"I'll keep an open mind, if that's what you're worried about. He's our son, he can have whatever he wants from me."
