RP: Lily & James
Who: James & Lily Potter
When: 8th April
Where: Clock tower
What: Back to normal (kind of)
James woke up and peeled himself off the pillow, still half asleep as he groped for his glasses, stretched and yawned. In the cold light of day, it took him a moment before things started sliding into place. If he was honest, it was the splashes of yellow and black, not to mention the odd badger carved into the ceiling, which really did it.
Shit. What had happened? His head was spinning all of a sudden, a bizarre mixture of new and old memories, his and someone else's. That Kirley bloke. The one who'd thrown the party. He'd thought he was him, he'd been sure of it. But it was more than that, wasn't it? James scrubbed his forehead frantically. He remembered. Way too much and not all of it his... had someone done this to him? Where were Remus and Sirius? What about Harry? How long had... James groaned and resisted an urge to hide back under the covers, the weeks events slowly catching up to him, like a weird dream slowly filtering back. Hadn't he spent a decent amount of it flirting with that Parvati girl?
... Only it hadn't been her, had it?
Lily.
With a thrill that was quite unsuited to such an early start, James jumped out the bed as if he'd been shot. He stumbled for a moment, head pounding, grabbing whatever shirt and trousers were closest before heading for the door. He was halfway out when he realised he had no idea where he was going.
Spinning back, James pulled his wand, sending a large, silver stag bursting from the end. It turned it's head towards him, surveying him serenely through large, translucent eyes.
"Find Lily. Tell her I'll meet her by the Clock tower."
Ten seconds later the patronus was gone and James was out the door, starting the sprint across the castle.
The courtyard by the clock tower, where he'd bumped into Scorpius a few weeks ago, was empty. It usually was - that was the main reason he and Lily had met there when they were still in school. Out of breath from his run, James looked around, desperately seeking out a flash of red hair. It had been her, hadn't it? He wasn't imagining it? He couldn't stay still, finding himself pacing erratically around the courtyard as he waited.
What in Merlin's name was going on?
Needing something to do, James pulled his journal from where it had been shrunk down in his back pocket and scribbled out a couple of messages. He was still holding the book and vaguely wandering back and forth when he heard fast footsteps.
James whirled on the spot, his gaze landing on the young woman stepping out from under an archway.
He didn't care. Right now, James didn't care what had been happening over the last few days. He didn't care about Kirley Duke or his headache or the weird memories packed into his head. It simply didn't matter, because there she was, alive and breathing and here.
Without a word, James strode across the courtyard and swept Lily up in an embrace that lifted her off her feet.
