Roxanne was still getting used to mornings. She'd probably spent too long enjoying late nights and even later wake ups at home for her body to adjust quickly. But she was up, and had even managed to sort her hair, get dressed and put some make up on before heading down to the Great Hall.

There weren't many people there when she arrived, but she found herself a space and slid into it, reaching out to help herself to some fruit and yogurt.

The mood was quiet, probably with people nursing chocolate hangovers as well as the news of people disappearing. Roxanne was happy to eat in silence for a moment, giving herself time to wake up properly. Then someone sat down across from her and she glanced up with a small smile.

"Morning."

Parvati was up and at breakfast at her normal time. People might have had chocolate hangovers, but her body has stopped worrying about hangovers of any type long ago. Normally, she'd have gone straight for the head table, sitting right next to the Headmaster's seat. That had been McGonagall seat once upon a time. Now it was hers. Today there were too few people and there was one person she wanted to talk to.

No, strike that.

Parvati didn't want to talk to Roxanne and would have been happy ignoring her forever, except for work related things, but she was important to Scorpius, which meant she should at least try. "Morning," she said as she sat down. "It's quiet today. How many, do you reckon, will be late for work today?" she asked.

It was a bit of a surprise, seeing Parvati sitting in the other seat. They had never really spoken much before, apart from work. It wasn't that she was avoiding her, or anything, but sometimes the 'Girl who Lived' could be a bit intimidating. Whether she meant to or not, Roxanne wasn't sure.

Still, she was dating her Dad now, as well as being her best friend's Mum, so she wanted to make an effort.

"A few, I'm sure," she smiled. "It was a good meal last night, especially for this place. I think we'll be eating eggs for a week.

Small talk counted, right?

"I think we might too." She didn't mention that at the rate they were going through food there might not be much more (and she still couldn't figure out where the house-elves were getting food.) "I just- do you think the house-elves can Apparate outside of the country? It would explain where they were getting the food and they have access to the Hogwarts' funds. Remind me to ask them later."

She wasn't sure what to say. Talking about reminders was like work, which was fine. It was everything else that was difficult for Parvati. "How... how are you enjoying the job? I know it's not the most exciting, but we have had four new arrivals and taking. Is Fenrir helping you with everything needed? Birthdays? Housing?" Fenrir had been good, taking over without being asked, but his talents lay elsewhere.

"I don't know," Roxanne turned her fruit over with her spoon, just for something to do. "I supoose so. Or maybe they have some way to sneak around the muggle world. But I'll remember to... have you remember."

She scooped some breakfast into her mouth, swallowing quickly in order to answer. It was easy to talk about work things, even if the role itself didn't exactly suit her. It was all very... paperwork.

"Yeah, I think we have it all." She wasn't entirely sure, but would make sure to double check today. "The jobs okay, though. I just hope I'm covering everything. It's very different to what I did back home."

It wasn't the only thing that was different. She glanced over the table at Parvati, taking a moment to silently consider how weird this was. Sometimes you forgot, with everything going on. "Have you had any more ideas on where Teddy and the rest went?"

"They wouldn't break the statute, though," Parvati said with a frown. "Maybe they can go outside o the country, though. I mean a lot of magical spells that work on wizards don't work on house-elves. Maybe they have found a way to go." Maybe that was the way to do it, open up communication directly with companies using the house elves.

Parvati smiled, because at least Roxanne was trying, although who decided to become a model! These kids (and it didn't matter that they were about the same age, because they all felt so very young to her) seemed intent on doing utterly useless things. "I'm sure you'll do fine. I didn't know your mother, but your father is smart and brilliant. I'm sure you're too."

She sighed. "Everything point to the castle sending them back. The house-elves have been pretty quiet, but I'm talking to them, getting them to trust me. Hopefully they'll confirm it - or not- soon enough."
