Re: Regulus/Jamie
Jamie thought the Black brothers' relationship sounded as joyful as his with his father. But, even his father had cared that Jamie died. "If that's true, then it sucks. Dad was never big on details. Probably, as you say, because he didn't know them." Or had drunk away whatever memory of them he'd had. "But, I had the impression Sirius said something to him, an older Sirius, that implied he cared," he explained with a shrug.
Chuckling, he grinned. "If the short version takes that long, I think we might need to move this conversation somewhere with less standing. And possibly steal one of Hufflepuff's comfy sofas so our tailbones don't get sore with that much sitting around and talking." Ouch. Jamie had a much better idea of the relationship between Regulus and Sirius, now. And, while he understood there were two sides to every story, Regulus' didn't sound good. It was still a strange thought to him, though, brothers so at odds. He couldn't imagine letting anything separate him from Al like that. "That's...I'll be honest, it's hard for me to comprehend how brothers could fall out so badly. It just seems very foreign to my way of thinking. I would pick my siblings over anyone, even our parents. I can't imagine despising them over anything. Still, and don't hex me, maybe it's time you let the past go? You're the only two of your line left unless you start looking at everyone's family tree to see where they intermarried. There isn't any Black family any more outside the two of you. If you let him leave you behind without a fight, what will you have left?"
Jamie let out a soft snort. He really hoped Sirius was nothing like his Dad, not the Dad he knew as opposed to Harry, now. "You'll have to tell me if that works any better than forcefully shoving grey areas under his nose. Because, with Dad, that's exhausting. I'm hoping Harry hasn't gotten that bad, yet. But, you looked like you were headed somewhere other than me, so I should probably let you go. I'd love to grab some time with you later, though, talk over your plans with the wizengamot and the laws you're working on. High level, just trying to get a feel for the positions of the new government if I'm going to be helping with the 'PR'." And, if he ever did convince Harry they needed a more unified communications strategy, he didn't want to be playing catch-up.
