RP: Savannah/Theo
Who: Savannah/Theo
When: morning, 18 March,
Where: Outside
What: They go out flying, but they get caught in the rain

Savannah was glad that they had gone out early. Even though it was slightly colder, at least it was dry. She couldn't see that it wouldn't last long. The sky was blanketed by dark clouds and she knew that they wouldn't have much time.

They flew over the pick for about half an hour, before the first drops started. "Let's get back," she yelled as they flew.

By the time they got to courtyard, the rain had gotten worse. Savannah laughed as she cast a drying spell. "Well, that was eventful. I guess early breakfast for us. Come on, we'll probably have the Great Hall for ourselves."

If it hadn't been for Savannah's chiding that he was too spoiled to go early, Theo would have chosen later. As luck would have it, it had worked out well. His obvious lethargy aside, the air had been cool and crisp and invigorating. While to start he was sluggish, by their flight's end he was bright and alert. It was pretty clear from the start that Savannah was by far a better flyer than he was. He tried to recall the last time he went flying and realized it must have been well over a year.

"Alright" he said as the rain started to fall. It was refreshing at the start. He'd close his eyes briefly and take a deep breath, letting the droplets wash down his face. That was until his hair was too wet, his skin was chilled, and he knew he was done. He really truly was a bit spoiled, and he knew it was true.

While he dried off he offered her a smile, and set to brushing back his disheveled hair from his eyes. "Maybe I'll catch up next time," he said with a small laugh. But he doubted it. Theo followed in step with Savannah feeling thankful for her offer. "Tea and toast I hope," he said as they headed into the Great Hall. There didn't seem to be anyone else around, not yet at least and he was grateful for that.

"Thank you," he said and moved aside to let her lead the way. "It was good to get out and do something other than pretending to be busy."

Savannah laughed at the answer. "Sure, and maybe I'll just stand still and let you beat me, too. We all know that men need their fragile egos soothed," she said winking at him. "I hope that there's a lot more than tea and toast. The best thing about training like I do? I can eat and not worry that I'll gain weight."

She wasn't too fussed about where they'd sit. The house tables didn't mean much anymore, but she went to the head table, because that's where they had the comfy chairs. "You know with the smaller numbers, we really should have more comfortable chairs."

She picked two seats at the very end of the table. She felt weird sitting where the headmaster sat. "You're welcome and you're free to join me whenever you like. I know it might get boring, but until it is, we can fly." She grinned. "If there was a job where I could train eight hours a day, I'd be set."

Theo laughed in turn, knowing what Savannah said to be true. "We are guilty of such. More often than not." He said while placing his hands in his pockets as he walked. "I'm sure whatever you'd like most will be there. I'm more for small portions all throughout the day," he said taking a seat.

He couldn't help but smile. It was terribly odd sitting where the headmaster would sit. He looked out into the hall, at all the empty seats and wondered what it would be like in the time to come. When seats would be filled with students, and the rest of them going off to work. It was a little bizarre to imagine, but he supposed no more than his present situation. "Perhaps you can bring the seating arrangements to the Minister's attention," he said in good humor.

Theo appreciated the kindness. There really was no reason for Savannah to be as kind as she was to him, he wagered he didn't really do much to earn it. "I might take you up on that." He said sincerely. "I suppose you could still be the aerial division, so perhaps not eight hours, but some." Theo drummed his fingers lightly on the edge of the table, and while not obvious, he did take note of her. Aside from what was clear to see, that she was quite fit, she seemed like a girl who smiled often.

"You know you are rather good at this, the ambassador type thing Potter has you doing. But you'd rather be doing anything but, is that a good guess?"

"That's okay, though. I can humour you." She knew people thought that it was wrong and she should stand her ground, but she lived in a man's world, where the best players were still men, so it was easier to shrug it off than being constantly upset. "When we play Quidditch, we ate an insane amount, especially the day of the game. Some of the games have been known to go for hours, with no breaks. It's why on game day, I eat really early and breakfast is pasta and meat and salad. It's basically enough calories to last you until the afternoon."

Savannah laughed. "I should and then he'll look at me like I'm speaking a foreign tongue and tell me 'whatever you want', leaving it to me to fix it. I might ask the Headmaster instead. This hall looks too empty like this. The students might find it creepy."

She nodded. "Good. It's fun to have company." Although she planned to speak to Lucius next and put brooms on the first list of things they needed. She'd sell it as security. "I guess I'll have to speak to Mr. Weasley about that, but I imagine that no one would want to do it for that long."

She frowned. "I suppose I am good at it. I like people. Maybe- Maybe I should talk to him about the Confederation. I could be an ambassador and still train on my own when there's nothing to do." She grinned. "Let's face it, small, cute, Quidditch player, smile a lot, they will think that I'm an idiot and I can use it to my advantage."

Theo turned over the cup at his place setting and waited for it to be filled. He didn't have much to say while he listened to Savannah speak. It was hard to imagine eating so much at such early hours. The thought of it almost made his stomach lurch, but he wasn't exactly up burning calories all day long. Sitting and reading and recording his findings didn't require much fuel. "If I ate that much, I'd likely burst," he said with a small chuckle. "Our lives are very different."

It didn't seem wise to say much more. All jokes aside, Theo felt what he did about the current state of the government and his reservations about it's success was not appropriate for now. Or for his present company. He just smiled softly, adding only, "The headmaster then. I still think plush chairs may not be his greatest concern. Approach it from a more pragmatic place. It is far too large a space."

It didn't take long for their food to come, with nobody else there the wait was only momentary. "I'm sure Mr. Weasley will do what he can to accommodate you. Just as an aside, I should think that monitoring the school grounds would be useful. There is no real way yet to know when people will arrive. Who they will be. And what state they will arrive in." Theodore buttered his toast, dipping it in his tea before taking a bite. It was consistent. It was simple. But most of all it was familiar and he was a creature of habit.

Theodore looked at Savannah thoughtfully and took a few bites of his meal here and there. He wondered how capable she was at playing the political game, but she had charm and seemed bright. Especially when it came to people. "Just remember, play your cards close. And never give too much away. You can play a game too long and lose yourself in it"

"Yes, but not if you get on a broom and possibly fly for a good six hours. That's really my limit. Once they start getting past six hours I start to get hungry. The water is worse. Guys have it so much better since they generally pee less. I have to make sure I don't drink much if at all before the game so I don't have to pee. Players have on occasion used vanishing spells as they peed in the air. Isn't that what you really want to know before having breakfast?" she said laughing.

She nodded. "I know, but it is also about comfort and posture. You don't want children slouching. It's bad for their spine and back muscles. really we're doing it for health reasons."

She started to eat her usual plate of eggs and cheese with bacon and toast. The fruit could wait for later. "I agree, and I think we need to be flexible. Double the job and such. We've been really lucky. Hopefully, the castle will continue to be nice." She looked at him with a frown. "You're really are going for tea first? How are you not starved in the morning?"

She laughed. "Sounds like you could play the game, so why aren't you? What do you want to do with your life now that you're stuck here?"

There were places you expected conversations to go and then there were the times they veered so far off course they caught even him by surprise. Theodore sipped at his tea and occasionally took a few bites of his toast. He paused for a brief moment as a small look of surprise registered on his face. The shock only lasting a brief moment, before he dunked his crust into his cup of tea and ate what remained. "No," he said with a small laugh. "It's not exactly on my list of things to know, consider me fascinated," he said with a wry grin. "The real inside scoop."

Theo picked up another slice of toast and took a bite. He glanced over at Savannah's plate, seeing anything and everything that qualified as a breakfast item and shrugged slightly. "I usually have a weak stomach in the mornings. I do eat, of course," he said only. In truth his stomach usually rolled and lurched most mornings, but that was his own fault most days. "Have you known Hogwarts to be nice to children generally?" He said with a laugh. "We'll see what happens and truly there isn't much to be done about it, not right now anyway."

Finishing another slice of toast, he waited for his cup to be filled again. Once full he took a few sips and tried to think. The reality was he didn't have any idea what he wanted to do, what he wanted in general, and where he fit into the grand scheme of things. His life until now had been doing what he wanted, when he wanted and for how long he wished. Working towards some grand lofty group goal, that was not easy for him to wrap his mind around. It might be the first time in a long time that he felt aimless and he hated it.

"I don't know," he admitted, deciding to go with the truth. "This isn't where I expected to be, and yes" he said with a shrug, "nobody expected to be here. I know. But as for the political game, I don't think anyone with any say really wants me too involved in politics."

"Quidditch players. We're so glamorous," she said laughing. "All made up on the cover of the Quidditch Times, hair done, the right light, the smile. No one ever asks about what we do to actually stay in shape or how we can manage hours and hours on a broom with no breaks," she said, laughing. "Now you're one of the ones who knows."

Savannah did not have a weak stomach nor was she ever thought that girls eat properly and she was eating with gusto. "How come? The stomach bit? And I think that Hogwarts was less nice in your days," she said, biting into a slice of buttered bread. "We didn't have it as bad. It's still a school, but not that bad."

She looked at him, raising her eyebrows. "Took your time answering that on, didn't you? You know that you will not get judged for not knowing, certainly not by me. I've been literally rambling on about this for days." She straightened up. "You like to sound all mysterious when you talk, first with the early morning appointment. So why doesn't anyone want you involved in politics? And would you like to be involved in politics?"

Staying in shape had never been one of his primary concerns. Although he could understand it, it wouldn't be conducive to quality playing to have someone on the field who was like a pig in a wig on a broom. More comical, maybe. He smiled at the thought. "I suppose it is true what they say. Ignorance is bliss."

Theo pressed on with a shrug, taking a small sip from his cup and finding he was nearing the end of his tea. "I stay up far too late," he said simply. The truth being he drank until he fell asleep most nights. But that didn't need to be said. People never really wanted to know the details, he figured. "Lack of sleep can do that." Stretching his legs out in front of him, Theo sank back into his chair. He could imagine the school had been drastically different in their respective times, still it wasn't the safest place in the world ever. If it was, nobody would learn anything. "I didn't have it bad. I liked being here for the most part. Until later, but things always change."

He really couldn't help but laugh a little. He sounded mysterious? He supposed he might but he didn't think so. Evasive, he definitely was. The truth was usually far more boring anyway. "I just had to return some books I took that I knew someone was looking for. Just seemed rather easier than a much longer explanation." He explained while he considered what to say next. "As for politics the truth is I'm a little too self serving for politics. That and I'd imagine sidestepping away from things that happened in my school days here, might not paint me in the most positive light."

"It is on some subjects. I hope that it's not applicable to the government," she said, giggling.

"Oh well, there goes your schedule with this nine to five job," she said. "I'm like a clock. Go to sleep at the same time, wake up at the same time, eat at the same time. Athletes have the most regular life you can imagine. Everything is regulated." She grinned. "I loved being here. I didn't care about the classes, took my minimum classes so I could stay and play since I was too young for the pro. If I could have skipped the NEWTs, I would have, but I figured why not, right? It's not like I really needed them."

Savannah smiled at him. "See? Still mysterious. I would have said something like... 'Oh so and so gave me books that I have to return'. So much information in so few words not that I don't like words. I talk too much." She thought that every politician was self serving. "Pretty sure everyone that came from 1998 and earlier has to deal with the school days. You can't avoid it and not working isn't going to make people like you better. They'll assume that you're a snob who thinks he's too good to help others."

"I'll make it work," he said with a small smile. That was the only good thing about working he wagered. He'd have to fall into some sort of regularity. He knew his nights would still be long, but he'd adjust. "The classes were what I liked most," he said "I do like watching games, just wasn't one for group activities. Although my friends played, so watching games goes with all that." He said with a smile. "House solidarity and all that," he added with a little empty gesture of his hand.

He smiled genuinely and laughed, "Well. They never gave them to me. I just had them. And I let them think they were gone. I just didn't want to be rushed with them," he explained. "They are back now in any case. If they are still interested they will find them. And some notes, some diagrams of things that might be useful. Maybe not." While Savannah may of thought she talked to much, Theo found he really didn't mind. She had been kind to him and kindness was something of value. He wasn't an easy person to get to know, he knew that about himself, but it was just the way he was. Always was. "That's true," he said thoughtfully. "It's a little different in my case," He said, leaving it there. He thought about his first few days back in Hogwarts in this time. His trip to Knockturn with a seer and an auror and still hoping to have found things he could of lined his pockets with. Not for himself, but to sell later for profit. At the end of the day, his getting by was more of a priority than the greater good. He knew deep down he wasn't the right fit for political aims and international relations. "I'm not too worried about what other people think. I have thought about working with the Wizengamot, laws seem interesting enough. Pragmatic at the very least. And necessary."

"I'm sure you will. The body gets used to anything given time, even being hit at high speed with bludgers that break your bone. You wince, cry out and keep playing." She'd done it more times that she could count. "And we're the opposite there. The classes I hate and it wasn't about house solidarity. I wanted to annihilate my opponent," she said, laughing. "I'm a bit competitive."

Savannah shook her head. "You're terrible and now I get the need to be mysterious. You don't want to get in trouble. You know you could have just told this person what you've done. People actually like that."

Finishing her plate off, she pushed it away and turned to look at her. "I don't think it's a lot different. We all like to think we're special, in good and bad, but have you done what Snape did? What Malfoy did? What Black did? Have you betrayed your best friends and gotten them killed? Have you done what Greyback did? I think everyone seems to have something to atone for or you can forget the past and live a better life and if that's in the Wizengamot then good for you, but don't put limits in what you do because of the past. We all get a new chance."

Theo knew she didn't really get it. It didn't really make sense to anyone but him. It was just fun to sometimes poke people a bit, see how they react when things are not the way the expect them to be. "And that would be boring. People often times take themselves too seriously, it's interesting to see how things work out when they are less dull. And in truth, there hasn't been much to do. Until now, of course. If it was meant to have been cruel, I would have been. But it was just a bit of cheek." He said with a shrug.

What Savannah said made sense, he knew it was true. He didn't do any of the things any of the others she listed had done. But that was just it. He did nothing. He could have. He could have helped, he could of chose a side. But that wasn't how it was. He imagined it was hard, given what others had lived through to respect someone who stood by and watched, rather than act. "I guess we'll just have to see."

"Also straightforward," she said, chuckling. "I don't think I take myself seriously, but I don't have that Slytherin mind. I admit that I'm curious at first and then I lose interest. If you want to tell me something, then great and if you don't want to-" She shrugged. "It's all good.

She nodded. "We will, but for now, I need a shower." She got up. "Next time you want to fly, let me know and we'll hopefully have no rain."
