RP: Cassandra & Scorpius
Who: Cassandra & Scorpius Malfoy
Later: Draco & Scorpius, Cass & Peter
When: Late Morning, March 10
Where: Wandering the grounds
What: Scouting a location for the new greenhouses

One of the greatest things Cassandra was enjoying about the modern era was the fact that a woman could wear trousers and no one cared. She didn't have to deal with layer after layer after layer of bullshit every morning anymore and if she didn't want to, she didn't have to wear her hair up. Gloves, outside of those for winter, had gone the way of the dodo. Dressing in the mornings was so much simpler. Although there was also a lamentable lack of deep pockets... Thankfully, the heavy cloak she had over everything else had pockets abounds and it meant she was ready to go out.

Almost immediately after breakfast, she had disappeared outside to start scouting around the grounds. She carried in front of her a Y-shaped branch from a hazel tree - a rather traditional dowsing rod though instead of hidden pockets of water (of which there were many around Hogwarts), she was seeing good spiritual energy. It probably looked very silly to anyone who saw her, watching her pace about for a minute, then hold out a stick, shake her head, and move on. The process had been going for a good hour by now and she'd made very little progress.

The land around Hogwarts was so scarred, she was almost afraid there wouldn't be a good spot. Now, she was paused and staring up at the whomping willow that hadn't been on the grounds when she was a girl. Thankfully, she was just out of reach of it so the occasional ominous creak was just the tree settling in the cold. "... Right. The other way then."

Draco covered Scorpius' hand in his, honestly shocked by how intensely he already felt. He never wanted Scorpius to have a reason to cry again.

"Me and Mr. Potter. Harry. Yes. Its, new. For him. I, well I suppose you should know. I am completely, totally gay. I don't know exactly why I married your mother, but I can guess. I did, do, love her. Astoria was a very dear friend. It wasn't a romantic love, but I don't think that makes it any less. She always knew she was sick, that she had a limited amount of time. She always wanted a family. Again, I don't know the exact circumstance, but if I could make her happy and give her that family, I can see why I would do it. Plus I'm sure mother was thrilled about it, she always hoped I'd 'come to my senses' and marry a nice witch. Plus we got you, and I know we've sort of just met but I can already tell it was worth it."

He smiled when Scprpius mentioned being a model. He'd never imagined having a son that modeled both women's and men's clothes, but he'd also never imagined having a son and he really didn't care at all.

"I believe that. You look just like your mother, and she was so beautiful." He squeezed his hand and smiled proudly. "And I wasn't lying you know. If Lucius gives you trouble I'll kill him." His grip got uncomfortably tight for a moment. "I don't know what he was like when you knew him. In 2003 he's a broken, miserable husk of a man. But now, here, he's still whole. He never went to Azkaban. He's dangerous, though he's behaving at the moment. So if he does anything do not for a moment think I won't come after him. Harry too. I'm pretty sure he's just looking for an excuse to hex father.")

"So... you are gay. That's new. You never said anything. You never dated anyone. You stayed faithful to Mom. It makes no sense. And did you marry her so she could have a child? What about you? Is this why you weren't around until she died?" He shook his head. "No, that makes no sense either, because you could have dated after her death, and why am I asking you? You're just guessing here. I'm sorry, but it's just so confusing."

Scorpius got uncomfortable at the reaction. His father was kind and gentle and smiled a lot. He was not so... intense. "Okay, this?" he said as he pulled his hand free and waved his hands in front of Draco's face. "This homicidal, post-war look? We leave that alone. We don't kill people anymore. We talk, we argue, but we don't kill them. Mr. Potter should know; he's Head Auror. I... I'll be all right. He won't hurt me." Not physically, because there was no reason to. Emotionally it was a different story.

"All right, so we're here and what do we do now? Are we trying to find a way home? Theo works with time magic doesn't he? He might find the solution, no?"

"I wish I had answers for you. I've been thinking about it a lot, ever since I got here and we learned about our future selves. I don't know why I never said anything to you. Maybe I just never wanted you to have to deal with my choices."

Draco shook his hands out and looked down. It was a good thing, right, that Scorpius hadn't seen him like that before. It meant he'd done an okay job. But the implications of him not being around until Astoria died weren't pleasant. This time travel thing would never get any less weird.

"Theo has a few theories, and we're researching it. But we don't want to do anything that could ruin the future or cause a paradox or something. Most people are more focused on making things livable now. Apparently Granger hid all of the magical items and artifacts before she died, and left clues around, so we're also looking for those. It hasn't really been that long."
