WHO: Hook & Zidane.
WHERE: Scarlet Crown Hotel.
WHAT:  Set a couple days after the trap challenge.
RATING PG.
STATUS: Just started!

The trap challenge had essentially been postponed, given that Zidane had trouble finding supplies. Not that it really mattered, because it wasn’t as if they had to rely on game animals for food. The stock in town was still reliable, even considering that it took a longer time for the food and drink to replace itself. Zidane was still accepting that, because if there was anything wrong with the food, then surely someone would have suffered the effects by now. Zidane wasn’t going to let the food sit there, untouched. There was no knowing how long it’d all last, but he had to think positive.

It seemed like there was a lot to do in town, but something was holding him back. For the past few days he stayed within the hotel grounds, with more time spent outside than in. He couldn’t hope to stay outdoors all day and every day, however, especially when the weather decided to change. Gone was the bright sun and (mostly) clear skies, and in its place came heavy rain. Zidane wasn’t new to getting drenched, but fortunately this time he managed to avoid a repeat. Sort of. It didn’t take long for him to get relatively dry, particularly because the large fireplace in the hotel’s lounge… Zidane was certain that when he last saw it, the fireplace wasn’t lit.

Fires that started on their own accord was no reason for him to stay away, but he didn’t linger by it for long. He spent maybe half an hour by it, and though he was tempted, he didn’t add anything to the fire. The urge to take that ugly painting off the wall and use it as fire fuel would have been overwhelming, if not for one notion. That destroying it might have worse consequences than simply ruining a piece of art, even one whose content changed positions from time to time.

With that theory in mind, the teenager went in search of Captain Hook: and his first stop would be the hotel’s own pub. Or mini-bar, as he’d been told. Since he was stuck indoors for who knows how long, what better time was there to test out theories? On that note, who would be a better partner, if not Hook?

This was bloody miserable, and the whole 'raining cats and dogs' bit was just icing on the cake of shit. Emma disappearing put Hook into a foul mood - he didn't want to see anyone, didn't want to talk, didn't want to do much of anything. He'd never been a man who handled loss well, and for someone whose life was essentially one loss after another, a rather shit hand of cards constantly dealt - let's just say it was better not to cross him or his darkened mood.

He also drank more than he should have, consoling himself in booze. That was why if he wasn't in his room he was usually at the pub - any pub, any bar, always pouring alcohol down his gullet was the main point. There was no other way to cope, and the nagging thought that something could have happened to her, she might not have just been sent back to their timeline but died here in this miserable place made his insides twist painfully. Not her, not the woman he loved...

Down another shot went and, cobalt eyes bleary, he turned them toward the door to see Zidane coming in. Grand. Watson was smart and left Hook alone when he needed to be alone, but Zidane was a curious teenager - just a boy, really, and he was just as trapped as Hook was. So, he supposed he ought to make himself useful now.

"Over here, lad." Hook waved him over. "What's happened?"

Zidane didn’t seem too bothered by his predicament: the matter of being trapped in an usual town, and with none of his family or friends around. He had to remain positive, at least on the outside: if not for himself, than for the other residents of Hobb’s End. He never had been one to give in fast to doom and despair, even if the outlook promised nothing but disappointment, plus more.

Emma’s disappearance was definitely bad news, and it didn’t matter that Zidane haven’t even met her. Any disappearance was bad news: but it was no reason for anyone to give up hope, or anything else. In that regard, you could say that Zidane would be helpful: or become a nuisance. If someone had to grieve, why turn to liquor? Zidane didn’t understand the appeal of getting blind-drunk, which further encouraged him to find the Captain.

Just as Zidane had hoped, he found Hook in the mini-bar. For one, that meant his search was over; however, getting drunk wasn’t the best situation. It couldn’t be too bad, though… hm. Hook's flat-mate wasn't here, so that had to mean that the other guy didn't care: or he knew Hook needed space.

Zidane strolled up to the counter and took a seat next to the pirate, perching on the edge of his seat. “ I took a dip in the lake; it looked safe enough. But really, I just got caught out in the rain.” Shifting on his seat, he gave Hook a critical once-over. “What about you? Do you really think drinking that much crap will help? Don’t get me wrong- liquor probably makes you feel good or special or whatever, but even I know there’s gotta be a limit. So, come on. Don’t make me hassle you.”

Unlike many, he had a knack for coming off as both serious and playful. He hated seeing others dwell on bad news, while in special circumstances Zidane wasn’t any better; he often became his worst enemy.
