Bridge of Light [Ancient Greece, the Underworld] (tag: Hades)

Nightmares were not new to Melinoe. She had, quite literally, grown up with them, as you do when one is Underworld nobility. She adored Phobetor and the rest of his many siblings and the adoration seemed to be mutual, but there was a key difference in knowing nightmares and having one herself.

Melinoe was having a nightmare. )

Inception [2002, Than's Temple] (tag: Thor)

[info]shadedmelinoe
Jobs always came with pros and cons. On the positive side, Melinoe got to have all the ‘children’ that she wanted, traveled, met some absurdly fascinating people that probably would have never given her the time of day otherwise and the work was easy. Babysitting was what it was when one boiled it down. Grab a few shades, pop out into the world, let them visit a few relatives, maybe take them to places they had always wanted to see when they were alive but never had a chance to. )

Fear Not Sleep, For It Is Sweet [a long time ago, Erebus] (tag: Hypnos)

[info]shadedmelinoe
The Underworld was not a cheerful place. It could be beautiful, and it could be thrilling, but cheerful it was not. Bright colors fought hard to survive, voices had a slight shadowy quality to them, redolent of mist. It was much larger than could be conceived by the mind, spanning from the entrance where the psychopomps entered to deliver their charges and to the deepest layers of Tartarus, the pit where the damned and deadly were confined. Between those two points there was enough to fill a world. One with a population that was constantly expanding, never diminishing. The Underworld, after all, was a final resting place, not a destination spot. Very few who went in ever went back out.  )

Girls Just Want To Have Fun [1984, NYC] (tag: Idun)

The truth of the matter was that everyone had secrets. Even the gods, though most of their secrets tended to be public knowledge from one start of the pantheon to the other, thanks to however it was that mortals kept hearing about them and spreading the tales.Even the Underworld wasn't safe from gossip. )
