Enki had a number of children already so holding a child when it was presented to him, even without being asked first -though Ereshkigal had, was easy enough. Enlil had him settled into his arms easily, then looked down at her sister's son with a small smile.
“He is strong,” he began, in response to her question. “But you are right to boast, he...” Enlil was about to say more but was distracted by a small sound coming from the small face that was looking up at him. Enlil wasn't naive enough to think that Namtar, for as small he was, was directing that sound at him, but it widened his smile anyway.
