She didn't know what a turkey was? How could she not know what that big silly bird looked like? Who was she and where did she come from that she had never seen one? Curiosity was pressing Coyote hard, and he really wanted to enthusiastically offer to show her all sorts of things if she would just answer his questions.
But experience had taught him that running straight at something usually made it run away before he could catch it. And he was going to catch her. So he'd need to sidle up rather sideways.
"That's a tempting offer," he replied, making his voice sound as though he was admitting something with reluctance. "I do like turkey. And it would be fun to show you something new. But I don't think we can have dinner together."
