“Children are miracles,” he said. And that was all he said. The less he said about what he'd done to his best friend's children, or how he'd lost his own, the better. Thor kept his eyes on the tiny face in front of him, taking time to breathe like the tiny little monk on the mountain had taught him. That seemed to work most of the time, and he felt his heartbeat slow to a more manageable level.
“There gonna be more demons hanging around?” he said a few moments later. “I can stay a while. I'm good at smashing shit.”
Not good at much else, Thor thought to himself. But at least he could help this little one make it. The baby was coming into the game with a few check marks already against him, and Thor would like to level the playing field a bit if possible.
