“And the descendants of the Anu and Ki are all known as the Anunnaki,” he explained... since he had referred to the term earlier.
Djeheuty took a long, pleased drink of the new beer and sighed happily. “Kratos, consider that Anu passed them from father to son. Enlil is not in a role of rule, but he chooses who is most suited for the position. Their mortals will take pilgrimages to his temple to have it determined who should be the next King in their lands. And, even among the Anunnaki, his word is considered unchangable.” He leaned over and broke some of the bread so that he might have a small piece for himself.
“There was a time when Dilmun and then Eridu where the head of Akkadian and Sumerian political power was... at which point, since Ninkasi's father, Enki, was creating many things and having many new children... they were in his possession.” He chuckled then, “Inanna is...” A muted, somewhat amused grumble, came from the Sumerian between them and Djeheuty chose to move on. “It wasn't an issue until Tiamat stole them... and she had gone rogue. Marduk slew her, the Anunnaki had great faith in him and Enlil elected him as the new leader of their pantheon. So, Marduk is King, he had the Tablets, maybe still does... and,” Djeheuty looked over to Ninkasi...
“Is Babylon the political center now? That was your brother's city.” He shrugged. “Regardless. Not nearly as dire as it sounds.”
