"Your father is..." Lottie paused to think. She really didn't know Hedylogos very well. Aphrodite was his mother, obviously. Well, not that obviously maybe. Pothos was only her foster son, so-- no, thinking about Hedylogos now. Alright, so Aphrodite was his mother, and his father was... was... was... "Hermes! Oh. Yes. He'd definitely have some ideas about speaking, I'm sure. He talks more than me, and that's saying quite a lot, isn't it?"
Friendship reached over then, slowly so as not to make him flinch or anything, and carefully took the mirror from where it was resting in his lap. Looking down at her reflection, she mused, "Yes, I can see how this might help some people. It makes you face yourself and get over that self-conscious thing by watching how you move and such. But it's not working for you, hmm? Well, then we'll have to try something else."
With that, she set the mirror aside. As she did so, she commented, "I'm sort of getting the impression that you're shy. And maybe have a bit of a problem with stuttering. Which can't be easy with Hermes for a dad, so there's a lot of pressure too, isn't there?"
She made certain that she wasn't looking at him as she talked, since that seemed to be a problem for him. "So. I will help you practice if you like. I can be your audience, don't you think? I'm a stranger, but I'm a safe stranger because I'm Friendship and Affection, and all I want to do is help. And I think I have an idea of how to start."
Again, moving without haste, Philotes leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his shoulders to hug him. Sometimes words weren't necessary to communicate. And she hoped that it would distract him enough that he might, at least for a moment, forget to be shy. She didn't lean back, but kept up the embrace as she said softly, "Hi. I'm Philotes. And who are you?"
