She was immensely and immediately relieved to hear him tell her that he definitely did want to be with her. Quite a lot, apparently. Though she would have stuck to her word and been his friend no matter what his answer had been, she'd be lying if she said that it would not have been very difficult. Because she very much wanted to follow through on what they'd started too.
But what he said next caused conflicting reactions in her heart. On the one hand, she was dismayed to hear him talk as though he wanted something that sounded more like a marital relationship than an affair between lovers. Sigyn didn't want that, not because it would bother her, but because she feared it would make Loki feel tied down and tethered. And that would make him want to escape, probably sooner rather than later. Sigyn intended to stay with him as long as she was able without making him feel constrained.
On the other hand, though, there was a larger part of her that was thrilled. That meant something. Didn't it? That he wanted to wake up with her? That he wanted her to be there when he got home? That was more than just a fling. And that's what was confusing him. Was that why he'd stopped? Because he didn't know how to define their relationship either? He'd said he didn't want her to be a casualty in his wake, was that what he was referring to?
What an odd position they were in.
"Alright," she said softly. One hand traveled up his spine and back down, gently stroking his back. "Alright. Let's look T the problem together, because between the two of us we can figure it out, right? We… we can work out some kind of code, so when I stop at your place, if you do have an idea when you'll be home I can be there waiting for you. And I can be in your bed some nights if you want me to be. But I can't wake up in your bed with you. Not if we're keeping this a secret. That would be too risky. If you want to stay with me to night though, you can. I'm not expected back until tomorrow, I'd planned to camp out tonight."
All of which addressed the practical actions he'd brought up, but none of the emotional. That was a potential minefield she felt she needed to ease into. "I'm not totally sure what to do with this either. I thought that, well, I would be just another notch, but for a chance to be with you, for however long it lasted, I was willing to go with that. I want to be with you, Loki. Any way I can be. But this, this definitely changes things a bit doesn't it?"
There was a small pause, then Sigyn cautiously put forth,"Maybe what we should do is take things one step at a time, then stop and think about and talk about that step. So we both understand where we are. So we can both make decisions about what the step after that might be. Together. Or is that a stupid idea?"
