For a brief moment, her heart leapt up in joy. A push? He could just give it a little push? Was that all? Already Harmonia's mind was reeling. Would he do it for her? Could he nudge someone in her direction? Someone good enough for her? Someone she liked and wanted to like her back? Was that wrong?
Maybe Eros couldn't do that. Maybe it was wrong. There were rules, right? She couldn't ask him. Besides, if she asked him then he'd want to know why she was asking and if there was someone she had in mind -because there obviously was, and then she'd have to tell him, and then he'd tell either their other brothers or their mom, and either way their mom would find out... and then someone would tell Apollo. Or worse, someone would tell someone who would tell Apollo and then she would just die.
Besides, that was wrong. It really was. Philotes would tell her so, too. It would be making someone do something they possibly didn't really want to do and really, deep down, Harmonia didn't want that either. That was fake, then. It wasn't a push if it wasn't something someone didn't want enough to go through on their own. It was fake.
“What if someone doesn't want a push?” She asked suddenly, shoving her own bit of hope from seconds before down in the recesses of her belly. “What if someone only wants things to happen on their own, the natural way? What if someone only wants someone to love them because of them and not because you hit them with an arrow? What then?”
