“She's a huge pain in the ass, that's all you really need to know,” he blurted out too quickly, without even thinking that he probably shouldn't say anything. Which, of course, he tried to cover up by shoving the little tart-like confection in his mouth and sitting down. He chewed a bit and nudged the basket toward Thor with a heavy sigh, “here, eat some of this... I think Idun is trying to make me fat.”
He shoved the last of the cloudberry tart in his mouth and glowered at Thor, trying to decide what, if anything further he should say on the matter at hand. There were days when he used to be able to say anything that was on his mind at all to Odin. That had changed. Loki had always known that Odin was an opportunist, using whatever he could to his best benefit whenever he could... which was sort of what sadly made him and Frigg actually work well because they were quite the same that way. But... it started to, over the years, come to Loki's attention that it would often twist to be at his own expense. Loki was not particularly fond of being a punching bag or scapegoat.
There really didn't seem to be any real reason for why that had all changed against him so abruptly. But, as he glared at Thor, he was trying to remember if there was any pattern of behavior there to indicate that Odin's son would also throw him under the chariot the second it suited him. Loki was growing more paranoid every year of those around him. But really, other than a few minor instances -or not minor sometimes, those were not really trust issues that had much to do with Thor directly.
“Yes, I know her, I've run into her a few times... usually in Midgard,” he said and took a swig of mead. “And I'll tell you about it, if you sit down and you swear not to say a fucking word of it to Frigg, or anyone else that might get it back to her, because you know how well she and I get on and I'd rather she not make that poor girl's life worse just because Frigg would rather see me banished to the far reaches of Niflheim beside Hel than anywhere near here. Got it?” The look on his face was dead serious.
