“That's what I was afraid of,” he said under his breath when she tried to stand and clearly was not going to be able to walk out on her own. Which meant a whole other long list of problems, but, he'd address those later. “As much as it bothers me to say this, and whether you believe me or not -it has far more to do with your reputation than anything else, you aren't going anywhere tonight.” But, she couldn't stay on the stool. So, Loki didn't wait for permission. He picked her back up again, trying to ignore how nicely she smelled and and laid her as smoothly and gently as he could onto his bed. “I'll send for Eir in the early morning, she doesn't ask too many questions.” Bless her for that.
Loki, knelt on the floor, then and started to gather up what she had originally started to put together of her clothes. Just so they were all in one place later. It also gave him something to think about other than the fact that she was now wounded, in his house, in his bed, and feeling embarrassed because she hadn't succeeded in her... attempt tonight. There wasn't much he could do about any of that. Though, maybe he could try to put her mind at ease.
Somehow.
As he looked under the bed for the elusive missing shoe, seeing it just out of his normal reach, and started to lean for it, Loki quietly asked, “why would you be embarrassed? It's not a total failure. Didn't you say you did this because I was avoiding you -which I definitely was, so you couldn't even talk me?” Ha, his hand clasped around the shoe and pulled it out. Sitting up, he continued. “Well, I'm talking to you now, right? So you might even call that a success.” He grinned. It was all perspective, of course.
Though, if her ultimate goal had been sex, that had been an utter failure and he was pretty determined to keep it that way. But that wasn't her fault, that was his. There was no real easy or believable way to explain that, though.
