Dammit. Throw the fucking Norns off the the World Tree, down off the cliffs of creation and light them the fuck on fire, she was crying. Now what? Well, it wasn't like he had never made a woman cry before. Actually, he was alarmingly good at that in his youth... when he was far more careless with their affections and advances. Now... Now Loki had this whole complicated set of rules that pretty much went unspoken between he and whomever his current lover was -even if it something that went on more than just an evening or two... some of them did last a touch longer than that. He tried not to emotionally invest. Now, he tried to not let them emotionally invest either. It was... a complicated mess.
“I think it's rather obvious,” he said as he pulled out a few other things and set them on the table just to keep his hands busy. “Whether you want to believe it or not, you'll catch someone's eye, someone of merit... and it's better if you... aren't tainted by associating with me.” For some reason, even though he knew there was a disgusting level of truth to it, it stung even to say the words.
He sighed, “that is why you really need to get dressed and go... before someone sees you. It's better for you that way.”
