Thoth was... confused. Firstly that Hermes had shown up to see him, then had fled. And now that he was offering some apology for an offense that Thoth wasn't even sure had been committed. What in creation was the lad going on about?
Something was amiss. It couldn't be that awful, as Seshat had made no mention, or at least nothing insistent of being offended by the young Greek. “Of course you didn't,” he said slowly and still very confused. “You had not met Seshat before, there would have been no reason for you to know who she was.” Even without knowing the whole story of whatever Hermes was concerned about, it seemed perfectly logical to Thoth.
