"I hope I did not offend you. My great-grandson is Chaos also, and probably much like your mother. But it's not that kind of chaos. In fact, Sutekh, that's the grandson I meant, joins me often to protect me. He has fought the monster, and one of his titles calls him 'The Slayer' of the serpent. Even he sees this is not a chaos we can afford to let win."
It was hard for Re to put it in terms an outsider could understand. Chaos, in its actual form, was a necessary force. It helped to keep balance. Apep was anything but that. Personally, Re thought "chaos" was a bad word for the serpent's desires. But it was the closest word they had for the complete loss of order his winning would bring about.
"Yes, I am the Sun, in my simplest form. This world here, I created it and ruled it as well." Perhaps it was a bit boastful, but it was considerably toned down from what he used to be like before he finally understood he wasn't the end-all, be-all of everything. "Now my children's children's children, and theirs as well, do that and I can focus on my solar attributes."
Re backpedaled through their conversation for a moment before he continued. "You say your husband is Darkness, so you are something else then. Are you specifically the night sky, perhaps? My granddaughter is the sky here, but both by day and night, perhaps you have met her? Her name is Nut."
