Re was pleased his drawings had come across as he wanted. He was no artist, and what he thought he saw could easily be interpreted differently by someone else, particularly an outsider. Though on reflection, it would have been pretty hard to miss the point of putting the Creature in that picture.
"The serpent lies in wait for me each night. It is the embodiment of evil and wishes to plunge the world into darkness and chaos, and what better way than to swallow the sun?"
Re shrugged, not wishing this meeting to be filled with dark thoughts and ideas. "But there is no fear of that happening. I never am alone, and we know the spells and weapons to defeat him. My priest also know, and aid in their own way. The creature will never win." A certain amount of pride was reflected in that statement. Re knew, without a doubt, that Apep would never succeed. It wasn't a matter of underestimating his opponent, but in having faith in himself and his family. Ma'at would always win. Even if the creature could never actually be destroyed. Neither could the Sun. It was his firm belief.
"But it is not good to speak of such things when I have a guest. Obviously night is very different where you bring it. I am told that the night can be very beautiful, and if you are the reason for its existence among your people, I can well believe it. Kek and Keket would never be called lovely." At least not among the mortals. The darkness deities of the Ogdoad were old when Re was born, and their likeness to Apep was almost startling, if only in appearance.
