Re couldn't help himself. He laughed heartily, mostly at the Hera comment. That one...well, he supposed he shouldn't judge, but she did seem to have some of the less favorable attributes of a hippo. He could also see that this Nyx was simply making an attempt at being intimidating.
"Actually, I have family that resemble such creatures. I mean no disrespect to you, or to them. But here, in Kemet, these things are the least of the scary things I encounter nightly."
"But forgive me, Neeks." He wasn't sure he said that quite right. He had never quite got a handle on Greek, which she obviously was since she mentioned Hera. Again, Re bowed slightly. To full-out bow to another deity was not in his nature, but he understood that to her mind, what he had done might well be an insult. "Here in Kemet, the night holds many dangers, not just to the mortals either. I can see you are nothing like those terrors."
On the contrary, she was beautiful, if dark even in his bright rays. "If night were like you in my world, I might never want to rise again to destroy such beauty." Okay, that was a bit much, even for Re. Bes was good at the whole flattery thing. Re was not.
"Does it cause you pain to be in the light?" A legitimate question, to Re's mind. Dark and Light were both necessary to balance the world, as much a part of Ma'at as his laws and his own battles. But that did not me they co-existed well. One could only be present with the absence of the other.
