Nyx was the night sky, and had he approached her when it was still dark in any way, sh woul dhave known of his coming as he winged his way through her domain. But the rosy fingers of dawn had long since passed over, and the sky was now turning the pale yellow and blue of a clear morning sky, so it was only when he was within sight that she knew that the bird flying towards her was the god she'd been waiting for. When she saw it coming out of the east, an aura around it's body making it brighter even than the sky, she smiled wide.
But the smile turned to a small gasp as the bird came straight for her. Straight for her. Had Nyx been made of less stern stuff, she might have flinched. There was a good deal of speed behind that small, feathered body. And then, suddenly, there wasn't a bird, but a smiling man who bowed to her. It was quite an impressive entrance, and Nyx promised herself that she would surprise him some night by chasing him down before the sun set so she could return the favor.
For the moment however, what needed to be returned was the greeting offered. And she responded in kind. “Γεια σας,” she said, the sounds coming out like yah-sas. “I am Nyx.”
And then she gave him a mock stern face that was utterly belied by the fact that sh was genuinely struggling not to laugh. She was so happy to finally meet him, she couldn't help but tease a bit. “Are you the author of these scandalous and slanderous drawings that portray me as some scary thing that goes bump in the night? I will have you know that I have never sent lions to eat people in the darkness. Perhaps a leopard or two, but never a lion. And I have never once consorted with hippos. Unless you count Hera.”
With an arched brow, she waited for his response, doing her very best not to break character and giggle. It was exceedingly difficult. Especially after the Hera hippo joke.
