Then she began to draw, again on the huge scale that would make it easy to spot from above. She made a gentle curve to represent the earth, drawing a raven flying over it, coloring the bird with the black sand from the beach. The next picture drawn below that was the same gentle curve, the raven closer to the edge this time, and on the opposite side of the earth, a falcon with a circle on its head just peeking over that horizon. The picture that followed was the falcon beginning to rise on the right side of the earth, enough to see the little stickman in one of its claws, and the raven on the left, waving good-bye with one wing. Nyx used up the last of the black sand on that picture, so in the final scene, she used three vertical lines where the raven had been, indicating motion to show that the black bird had dropped out of sight. On the other side of the curved earth, the falcon clutched its stick figure close for comfort and cried at the loss with giant tears flying from the corners of its eyes.
Nyx finished it all by writing Νύξ at the bottom to finally introduce herself. Then she stood back to admire her handiwork. She gave a small nod before flying off into the night to tell her husband all about her artistic adventures. And make some naughty pictures just for him when they got home.
