Harmonia stopped, blinked a few times and put her hand on Lottie's arm to stop her. There was absolutely no way they were going to breeze passed that. “You do?” She asked, genuinely confused. It was an easy thing to show confusion over. Philotes, her best friend, said she had thousands of children. How was that even possible? Harmonia knew that the Underworlder was older than her by far, but surely she would have known at some point that she had children. Or at least have heard her talk about them.
“How... Where? Have I met them?” The bewildered look on her face was obvious. “I mean... I get that I'm young. There are mortals walking around that are older than me, I'm sure... but....”
She shook her head, steadied her belly with one hand -the one that held the toy, and held onto Lottie with the other as they started forward again. It was hard for her to think that this was something Philotes had kept from her. Wouldn't you tell your friends if you had children? Wasn't that an important thing to share? Though, Harmonia was quite sure that there was nothing intentionally malicious about the omission. It must have been a mistake. Maybe Philotes had told her and she'd just misunderstood.
Or maybe Lottie wasn't being literal. That had yet to cross her mind, though.
“Do I know any of them?” Thousands! That was a lot of children. And here Harmonia was worried about the one and possibly only one she was having.
