The red faded until her vision was just a little blurry around the edges, rather than filled with nothing but heat and crimson. She was breathing hard, sweating, and her arms hurt. Sigyn looked down at the huge branch she was holding on to, and some logical portion of her brain told her that she should put it down because it was obviously too large for her to pick up. But apparently logic had been put on hold; she could remember swinging it. At the jotun.
Startled that she'd sort of forgotten her kidnappers, Sigyn looked around for them. And found them lying on the ground around her. They weren't moving. She dropped the branch abruptly, and at the last second jumped because it had nearly landed on her foot. The thing was ridiculously heavy, it could have done some real damage if it had connected. Apparently, it had already done both of those things to Squashnose and his friends.
She backed away from the scene, mildly confused and rather dazed. Sigyn decided she'd figure out what happened there later. First she had to get the injured wolf and get away before the jotun woke up. If they woke up. Her mind skittered away from that thought as quickly as possible, and she busied herself trying to find her furry rescuer.
It wasn't where she'd left it, though. The wolf was missing. In its place was a puddle of blood, and then a trail of bright red droplets on the snow leading away through the brush. Sigyn followed, not caring if she made noise at the moment. She had the luxury of not being chased at the moment. When the brush thinned, she stumbled out, and found...
Loki.
Naked.
Her eyes immediately went to his bare bottom, though not for the same reason that she'd looked the first time she'd seen him unclothed. This time, there wasn't a blanket being dropped. There was an arrow sticking out of his upper thigh. Well, half an arrow anyway. Sigyn blinked as it sank in that this was the same location that the wolf had been shot. The wolf that had apparently rescued her. The wolf that had spoken to her. That part finally made sense.
Shaking her head slightly, more than a little bemused that she'd sort of beat up a bunch of jotun for Loki she made her way across the camp. “Why is it,” she said teasingly, “that every time we meet lately, you find an excuse to get naked? I'm going to start thinking you're trying to ruin my reputation.”
Sigyn knelt beside him. “I'd ask if you're cold, but if I remember, you usually run warm. Do you need a blanket, though? I'm afraid this might take a few minutes. And it's probably going to hurt a bit, but we have to get that arrow out of your butt before you can go tempting Frigg's handmaidens again.”
