Lottie opened her mouth twice during his explanation to interject something, but he kept talking. Then he got the end and gave her the Look. She was well acquainted with the Look. She got it fairly frequently from one sibling or another. Usually, it meant they thought they were looking out for her and keeping her safe from something they thought she couldn't handle. She didn't really put up with it from her family and long-time friends any longer, because they ought to know better. But she'd just met Tyr, so she'd cut him a bit of slack for now.
Which didn't mean she was actually going to pay attention to the Look. She was capable of making her own decisions, and she was quite used to people underestimating her. Of course, others could be underestimated as well, so she wasn't about to go running down to the shoreline of the lake to look for this Nykr. Just because Lottie had a theory didn't mean she was ready to put it into practice.
Still, she felt it a viable enough hypothesis to say out loud, “I don't suppose that it's occurred to anybody that maybe this Nykr is just really, really lonely. Sometimes beings that live on their own, because of their location, or because they were born a certain way, don't really want to live on their own. And because they're on their own too much, they don't know how to handle social interaction very well. I know, because some of my own siblings struggle with it. I don't think that girl was brave at all. I think she was very selfish. Maybe if she'd gone with the Nykr he'd have been happy, maybe he would have done his best to make her happy too, and then maybe he wouldn't have been so eager to lure others in.”
Her lips pursed and she finished, “You say he plays the violin? Have you heard it? Is it pretty?”
