That nod could've broken her heart, had it not been for the gentle smile that followed. There were many things that could be fixed with a smile from her husband. Idun had a list somewhere. She already knew that Bragi's smile had the power to cut through her anger over lost birds in trees. She knew it could make her forget she was trapped in the net of a frost giant. And Idun knew that it could cure the sadness that set in whenever her husband's eyes welled up with sorrow. As long as he smiled, Idun knew that everything would be okay. The sadness might linger a bit longer, but it wasn't a forever sort of sadness. It would pass. And when it did, his smile would still be there.
Idun let out a soft laugh. A cloud formed from her lips as the sound hit the air, but it was easy to forget about the cold, if only for a moment, because Bragi was smiling. "I could just stomp and gesture angrily. But it'd be easier if you grabbed my wrist as I tried to storm off. If I'm angry, just grab my wrist and pull me back and don't let me go. I give you permission right now." Idun very much meant this. She was serious. Walking off had been a terrible mistake. How much more proof did they need after they simply looked around?
Standing was terrible. This surprised her for some strange reason. Idun didn't know how long she had been laying on the ground, in the snow and ice. There was no question, however, that too much time had passed. Her limbs had started to turn against her. Idun tried not to lean too heavily on her husband, she didn't wish to worry him, but her legs felt so shaky. Standing was terrible. Feeling Bragi's hand was the sort of help that only made sense between soul mates. His hand supported her no better than the arm he had around her, but feeling his skin to hers, feeling him squeeze her hand, gave her back a bit of strength. Just a little, but it mattered. It mattered a great deal.
Their gloves were replaced, and Idun did not protest. One touch was all she would need to get back home. One touch, and the look in her husband's eyes. The world was cold around them, but that look could melt the snow for miles. Idun was certain her heart stopped for a moment, and she inhaled carefully, slowly, until it started back up twice as fast. A look like that turned frost to warm water and it breathed life back into a frozen bride. She smiled gently and accepted the support as Bragi pulled her closer. They took a step, and then Idun paused to lean up, kissing his cold, cold lips with the same passion she'd spied in that look of his.
"I already told you. Being a legend doesn't even compare to being yours," she whispered before lowering herself off her toes. She cautiously glanced in the direction they were heading, but immediately looked back at Bragi. "Heimdall came?" she asked him. A question like that would break their spell, it would bring them back to a terrible reality, but she needed to know. "How...how long was I here? Heimdall left his post..."
