Thor was in a plesant mood. He knew she would be arriving at some point today, though he didn't quite know when. Nevertheless, he'd made sure to pick up around the house, make things welcoming. He never let it get too cluttered, as there was almost always someone staying with him. It was mostly for that reason that he kept the interior as clean and comfy as it was. If left to his own devices for an extended period of time, his living space started to become a bit of a disaster zone. Clutter began to accumulate to the point where it was too daunting of a task to undertake all in one day, so he'd just leave it until someone expressed a desire to visit. Then it was a bit of a graceless scramble to make things look remotely liveable.
But, fortunately; that was not the case this time. He'd just had family over the night previous; so everything still had a tidy yet comfortable feel to it. The fireplaces were blazing, casting heat throughout the expansive interior.
It was particularly cold that day, and Thor anticipated that Thyone would simply give him a head's up upon her arrival, then appear in his living room a few moments later. That was the standard for most guests. Then again, she hadn't ever done that, he realized. She was unfailingly polite, and though he had given her permission to drop by whenever, she always asked beforehand. She was such pleasant company for so many reasons; that was merely one of them. She was always gracious. Her visits were typically only a couple of times a year, but he always looked forward to them. And not just for her cooking. Which was, admittedly; outstanding. They never made plans for what to do on their visits in particular, just decided on the spot. Sometimes they'd travel; other times they would spend the weekend indoors catching up. Most of the time when she visited, if he wasn't passed out on the couch in a content and well fed stupor, he was laughing, or smiling. It was easy to be around her, and it always made him feel as if his actions had a certain balance, even in the weeks and months after she had left.
He heard a knock. Followed by her call. Then he was at the front door in a few long strides; pulling it open with a warm expression of welcome. Which quickly turned into worry, because what was she wearing? It was freezing out and her clothing was only thin layers.
"Thyone!" Equal parts thrilled to see her, and incredibly concerned. "What are you... are you wearing sandals?" He glanced at her feet, puzzled for the briefest of moments before moving forward, placing a hand on her arm and guiding her inside.
Once she was in the entry way, he took the bottle she held and the bag that was on the doorstep, then closed the heavy door. "Come on, let's get you warmed up." He set her things in the kitchen, and ushered her towards the large fireplace in the living room; in front of a massive window that looked down on the snow covered valley below.
And because he wasn't content to just let her sit on the ledge of the fireplace and gradually warm herself up by the flames; he grabbed a thick blanket from one of the couches and pulled it tight around her shoulders. Then he ran his palms along the length of her arms as if the motion could somehow generate heat instantly. Then he remembered her feet. "I have socks. I think Thrud left a few pairs of slippers as well. You should have something on your feet. They are starting to turn blue..." He teased, they were still as lovely and dark as the rest of her skin; but likely very cold and he didn't want her to be uncomfortable. He was standing in front of her, rubbing the warmth back into her arms and smiling as though he hadn't seen her in ages; though it had really only been about a year. And then, without hesitation, he wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug, because he hadn't done that yet and he wanted to. "It is so good to see you!"
