She heard him. She heard him coming up from behind her at a fair rate of speed, and she smirked because Sigyn knew that it was because he didn't want to let her get to the cave first. Men. They were always so competitive. But she hadn't counted on just how competitive Loki was.
Before she knew it, there was a snag at her ankle, and then she was falling. She tried to twist, so it wouldn't be face first, but she was off balance because of the load of wood she was carrying. With her belt wrapped around the bundle, she had slung it over her shoulder and now as she fell, it swung out and away from her body. Sigyn hit the wet ground with enough force that it hurt, but wasn't debilitating. The bundle of wood landing in her side half a second later, though, actually made her cry out in pain.
That made her mad. She'd just been teasing him. It was a joke. If he hadn't been so prideful, he would have seen that and had a laugh himself. Instead, she was laying on frozen ground that somehow still managed to have a few icy mud puddles. The cold and wet seeped through the wool, and the throbbing in her side made her that much more uncomfortable. Sigyn lifted her eyes to see him hurrying towards the cave, without an apparent care in the world.
Oh she was going to make him care.
Shoving the wood off her hip, she left it where it landed and pushed off the ground. Sigyn wasn't even totally away of how she managed to get up, how she started running, or how fast she was going. She just knew she needed to reach Loki before he got to the cave. Somehow, that part was integral to her plan, it had to be before he got to the cave. And as her feet flew over the ground, avoiding rocks and fallen branches, she knew she was going to be able to make it. That gave her an extra burst of speed.
When she was within feet of him, Sigyn launched herself with a hard spring. She probably should have waited until she was a bit closer, but she just couldn't. As it was, she was probably going to hit him somewhere in the middle of his back rather than his shoulders which would have been better. Didn't matter. As long as she hit him, hit him and took him down, she could live with that.
