“I don't think so,” Sigyn replied automatically when the man stepped into her path, barely glancing his direction in her haste to get to the orchard. But as she looked past him, she realized that this was the orchard, so her attention shifted back to the person that had asked if he could do something for her. Why was he asking her that?
It took a moment for it to register that this must be the husband. But he didn't look upset or distraught at the idea of his wife being off somewhere with Loki. Did he not know that she was out? Did he not know that she was out with Loki? Again? Maybe he was clueless as to what was really going on. The poor dear.
She couldn't leave him in blissful ignorance. While it might hurt him now, in the long run it would be better if he knew. If this continued, he'd be a laughingstock. Perhaps if they worked together, he could get his wife to stop flaunting herself in front of Loki, and his marriage could be saved.
“But I think that I can help you,” she said gently. “You're the husband, aren't you? You're married to the apple maiden?” It would be best to have that established. Because if she had the wrong person, the gossip would be that much worse later. “Do you know where she is right now?”
This was not going to be an easy conversation, but maybe by the end of it, they'd both have an ally.
