Indecision was taken out of her hands as the other goddess took note of her. Melinoe lifted a hand in slight greeting as she watched the unknown Norse goddess determinedly make way through the crowd in her direction. Mellie tried to make it easier and stopped moving towards the stage, turning to face her. She played a little game of Who’s That Goddess with herself with her limited knowledge of Asgardians. Not blond, that ruled out several possibilities from what she’d heard… other than that, however, Melinoe was having to accept she had an almost utter complete lack of knowledge about the pantheon to the North. Honestly, that was inexcusable. Reminder to self, pick up some books before you leave the city.
Even hundreds of mortals could only be a momentary obstacle when a goddess put her mind to it. Melinoe was soon facing the goddess who apparently liked having pink streaks in her hair. She listened to her speak, nodding faintly at first and then firmly, leaning in closer to hear. A concert wasn’t the best place to be attempting to have a conversation with someone but life was bizarre enough that somehow it didn’t even rank in the top twenty weirdest meetings Melinoe had ever had.
Idun? The name wasn’t familiar, though some faint association with fruit came to mind. Apples, wasn’t it? Apples were so very important in so many cultures, starting with the apples the Hesperides guarded to the infamous apple that had helped set into motion the tragic events of Troy. Melinoe decided to stop thinking and start speaking. She wasn’t shy, she just didn’t see a reason to socialize with people she didn’t knew since she disturbed so many.
“Hello!” She raised her voice. “I’m Melinoe, nice to meet you!” That she meant. Well, she’d meant the hello as well. It didn’t occur to her to wonder why the other goddess was there, no nefarious purpose crossed her mind. That would just be paranoid. So she smiled, friendly, unguarded. Melinoe extended her hand for a Western styled handshake. The lights in the stadium were dimming, building anticipation. If she wasn’t wrong, Cyndi’s chart topper monster was about to start playing to a crowd of super-enthusiastic fans. She could almost feel the building starting to shake. If any seismologists were on duty in NYC, they were about to get one hell of a surprise.
