Hypnos' lips twitched, though he did not smile outright this time. This conversation with Iris was proving to be exceptionally enlightening and certainly entertaining. It seemed that her assertion was correct and she was not good at comforting. There were some women in his life that he would argue were far less capable than the messenger. A vast number of his sisters, actually. Though his mother was wonderfully well-equipped for such a job, despite what outsiders might believe of her. And he had one rather hug-obsessed sister that made up for the shortcomings of hundreds of others.
“It is not everyone's forte,” he soothed. Truthfully, Hypnos though her lack of ability stemmed not from a dearth of compassion or empathy, but rather from a more pragmatic viewpoint. He suspected that if a friend came to her in tears, she would advocate finding the solution in wine in that instance as well. Drink until it didn't hurt anymore, and when that wore off, get up and move on. Not exactly what he would have suggested, but perhaps Iris didn't have much of an emotional investment in her spouse. Hypnos knew he would be crushed if he lost Pasithea, and an oceanfull of win would not be enough to numb that pain. Not ever.
It took little effort, here in his temple, for a plush pillow to appear in his hand, soft and velvet to match the chaise. Leaning forward, he tucked it on to the couch, just beneath where here head would lie if she would relax enough to allowe it. She must be getting a bit tired of holding her head up.
“Your suggestion that she have friends and family near is a good one,” he mused. Then he nodded, once. “I will see if I can convince a few of the younger Oneiroi to visit the dreams of those close to Alcyone, plant the suggestion that they should go see her. So you see, dear rainbow, you are offering comfort after all, even without the back-patting and wine.”
Tilting his head to the side, he offered solicitously, 'Would you like some? Wine, that is. It is a bit of a trip to get here and I would be pleased if you would allow me to offer such a small token of comfort myself.”
